Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong forum section, please move as required.
I have been working over in Ireland for a few months and have a Bank of Ireland account which my salary is being paid into. What is the most cost efficient way for me to send some of this money to my UK Halifax GBP savings account? This will be a reasonable sum of money so any advise on how I can get the best rate / lowest commision would be appreciated!
Thanks
Matt

First of all I would ask BoI if they were to convert, say, 5000 euro to sterling and transfer it to your Halifax account, how much sterling they would send (Halifax shouldn't charge to receive GBP from Ireland, but you might want to check that as well). Then ask the Halifax: how much would you end up with in your account if BoI sent 5000 euro (less any sending fee). (If this is possible for a savings account.)
I would not expect these to be the best deals, but they will put into context anything else you can find. Although currency brokers may be cheaper, you might feel that the savings are not worth the hassle or worry (remember Crown Currency Exchange!!).
Do ask BoI if there are special deals if you also hold a sterling account with them (either in the RoI, Northern Ireland or Great Britain).

Hi, I have sent you a private message. It's a good time to convert Euros to Sterling as the Euro is so strong against the Pound now:money:0
