Bearcub-I don't know whether I am seeing a difference. Because it's only ceilings, all it really does is point up how much the rest of the room needs to be decorated :rotfl:. And I'm trying very hard not to be too disappointed. I swing back and forth, but there's no getting away from the fact that the finish in the kitchen is very poor. I thought, after a day sanding, I'd managed to disguise the rest with matt paint, but the new lights are brighter and..oh dear
. Even DS can see it, and normally he'd be the first to tell me I was being fussy. I've positioned the spots so that they don't *highlight* the flaws, and I don't suppose anybody will be looking...but after all this effort, the finish should be better than this.
Anyway, I've put the second coat on the hall ceiling tonight. I think the ceiling in my bathroom (one coat so far) is so bad it will have to be filled and sanded, I forgot the family bathroom needed a second coat...and now the new light is up. And it looks horrid because its shades don't fit over the energy saving bulbs. Sigh.
On the plus side, the one ceiling not to have had a lick of paint yet (the stairs and landing) is now looking shockingly plaster-brown. I had stopped noticing. So after....what, two, three months? it seems I have adjusted back to white ceilings as the old normal. I suppose you could call that progressimport this0 -
Hello Messies,
I have been Awol again but have made progress, my room is 90% done just two shelves left to sort and the filing cabinet to sort out.
I have been very down this week and also worried about a couple of friends.
Anyhow my list for tomorrow
1. put away clothes
2. sort out work clothes
3. empty three remaining plastic boxes
4. dust and tidy up shelves (- hell this is the messies thread - I will be hoovering the shelves!)
5. clean out three remaining fish tanks (only little tanks)
6. mark books and essays.
7. Tackle the conservatory - hopefully this will be at four o clock, whilst watching a DVD

Well, I've faffed away the day again. I can lay some of the blame at the door of a tutoring client, who wants Sunday appointments and then double books herself. Last week I turned up and nobody was home-this week I texted to check half an hour beforehand and got no reply.
But when you have a couple of big jobs to do that you can't start *because you're going out*...it's very frustrating to be robbed of half a day in this way. Twice
However, I am now in my *increasingly* grotty painting clothes, and the landing is sheeted...I already have that one last drink in my hand....and I suppose I'm putting it off again, aren't I?import this0 -
I am just so impressed at you doing painting, my sofa just died (one too many "monkeys" bouncing on it, I sat down one night and got a surprise lol, it was a good 6inches nearer the floor than I was used to) and so I am thinking of clearing out the junk from the living room and sprucing it up, paint job, new sofa and some new curtains. But the clearing of the junk itself is a big big job0

I read your earlier post, laurel, and I know how you feel about new paintwork showing up everything else. Because we have a bungalow, it's so obvious when a room is done, as ALL the other rooms look tatty and/or dirty in comparison. It does have advantages, though. OH always hated wallpapering with a passion, so re-decorating very seldom happened. Here, all the walls are painted. And, in the event that we decide that the walls aren't as smooth as we like, our DD2's bf is a plasterer.
<Hugs> to you, buffy. Feeling down and worrying about others isn't a great combination.
Lovely day here, and fairly warm in the sun. Not too much de-messying going to happen here, but I set the BM going before going to church, plus I've put away dried washing and done another smallish load. More enjoyable sorting going to be done shortly - going through my card making materials, and setting aside those I know I'm never going to use, so they can be offered on Freegle.0 -
Wow - I've finally managed to catch up. So much has been going on while I've been busy doing other stuff. OH wanted to cut a door through from what is currently the kitchen to what is going to be the kitchen last week so that resulted in a very thorough clean of the current kitchen last weekend - to the extent of washing the walls down with fungicide to try to control the mould! Kitchen has been thoroughly rearranged to make better use of the space so I've been able to stay on top of the mess in there.
Yesterday morning OH tidied and dusted the living room so that looks heaps better so I followed that up with cleaning the bathroom and mopping the kitchen floor. Plan for today was to hoover the living room and tackle the bedroom which would mean the whole habitable part of the house could be conisdered clean and tidy.
But we went out to a social at the sports club last night and OH has wound up with a mild dose of food poisoning. He was up half the night which meant I was up half the night with him too. I'm still in my pyjamas and he is curled up on the sofa sleeping at the moment. No hoovering is going to happen today and I don't really feel like tackling the bedroom either. I need to go to a$da but I don't really want to leave him like this. If I procrastinate much longer, they'll have closed before I even get dressed. I know folks from my home town tend to go shopping in their jammies but I've never been one of them!0 -

Right so day not gone great lunch is about to be ready (Roast Chicken my fave!) I seriously doubt I will get to tackle the conservatory today but I have cleaned out my toiletries haul and sorted out my clothes so am well pleased to be honest.
The best thing I did this weekend was clean out small furries yesterday instead of leaving it till today, it was great waking to clean animals!!

I read a report in the times yesterday about how all the fashionistas are going about in their jammies now. It was illustrated with at least one pair of jammies that cost more than my family holiday this year lol!0

Adela - Hugs(())for the dead sofa, and good luck with the clearing!
Buffy - well done (what`s a clean animal? we don`t have any here!)
Frugal - glad you had a decent break, welcome back!
Sonastin - you have my sympathy here, trying to keep on top of things during alterations...
Laurel - I too have `faffed` most of today away. Had to go collect DGD from the remote snowy hills where he mama now chooses to live. Of course, she wasn`t ready, and took ages getting her stuff together. Then had to go for petrol & a bit of Mr T shopping. Can`t believe we`d run out of olive oil and mustard - usually buy several at once so stocks always in, but not this time! Only just got home, now have to put stuff away & re-organise some freezer space.
More coffee first, am parched!0
