Re Christmas music...shopping in town with DS yesterday (very stressy). He whinged about all the `jingly stuff` playing in every shop. Tonight, OH whinged about the same in most of the TV ads when we were watching ITV-player. (DS is an ardent intolerant Atheist, OH is a gentle tolerant RC, yet both my much at odds menfolk agree on this one. ) Yesterday in town, the ONE shop I entered that had the seasonal music unashamedly right was the Sally Army charity shop (got a nice purple top) actually playing proper Christmas Carols. DS said they should be banned. OH isn`t Christmassy at all, says its become`moneyfest`now. DD just goes MAD every year, despite saying she won`t this time, which she can`t afford and then I bale her out in the new year, again. Somewhere in between all this is ME. I do actually ENJOY some aspects of Christmas shopping, mostly about starting early and finding lots of little things that will please the kids I buy for. This afternoon I spent 3 hours sorting this stuff and really enjoyed myself, knowing it`ll be enjoyed.
I also enjoy cooking so the seasonal food thing is good. WHY is this the only time we can buy BIG hams? Just when there`s so little room in my freezer?? I`ll be working long days Christmas & Boxing day, as usual, as will OH, we volunteer for it as usual, seems most appropriate way to celebrate- with our patients.0 -

What a lovely thing to do
. I would love to volunteer however my DD is just to young to understand, when she is older we will all go together to celebrate with others.
We do make sure every year that we give money/gifts to charities that we do not normally support and we make sure that our DD takes part in the and understands the importance of giving to others. We are lucky in that she is such a thoughtful girl.
I hope that there are no sore heads this morning! Sorry I missed the party, a close friend popped in for a natter and a mince pie which was lovely.
Not done much this morning but I am about to clear a space in the living room for the xmas tree and to get a laundry and the dishwasher done. It will be lovely to see the mess by fairy light :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer, I think they`re all sleeping it off!!
House VERY messy today - DGD is staying over, and doing a fair job of keeping herself amused while I am WRAPPING PRESSIES! (in bedroom). I may have mentioned before, my habit now of buying lots of little stuff or multi-packs of stationery & craft stuff, fitting it into little set of drawers or a small storage box, and wrapping the packed article. (this years` haul includes fruity scented felt tips, fabric paint pens & Lord knows what - been collecting stuff since September)
The maddening bit is getting stuff to fit nicely in the storage boxes. I am growling a lot, but getting there! Then there`s fighting the sellotape, and Daftie-dog lying on scissors or wrapping paper - I sent her downstairs twice but she insists on keeping her eye on me...onwards & upwards...Emm drags self away from pc again...0 -
AGH!!! I missed the party. Sounds as if you all had fun though. Ill try and remember the next one.
Emm I remember how my daft dog used to roll all over the wrapping paper and how his hairs would get stuck to the cellotape. He used to sit on the rug while I was trying to wash it and would not move even though Id try to shake the mat.
Last night I cleaned the kitchen and livingroom which needed deep cleaning. I find that as long as I put some good music on the cleaning is a breeze. Sorted out the pile of papers on my desk and on the shelf.
I was so engrossed that it was 2.30 in the morning when I sat down.0 -
Hello again messies, I had a bad night with my cold again, felt very feverish and had a nasty cough/sore throat. I've already had a week of it!
Well done on the sorting Snookey, that sounds like a good job done there.
I feel a bit better today, so although I haven't yet tackled any mess, I have done some shopping for my armageddon cupboard - I was nearly out of tins of new potatoes and completely out of chopped tomatoes - although everywhere else seems to have put up the price of tinned new potatoes (tesco value now up to 29p) I got them at 20p a tin in Aldi. Chopped toms were cheap there too so I got about 30 tins of each.
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Unless one has antacid tablets
I was once told by a surgeon that the best thing to do before a night on the tiles was to take gav!iscon!awww! I may be an old cynic in my own life but I LOVE hearing romantic stories about how people met each other!!!
Me too - had wayyyyy too many disasters myself so am very cynical.
A bit about me... Definately SINGLE but have a friend with benefits if I chose to, which I CBA anyway!!! A bit too close to 40 for my liking! 3 kids, one grown up and left home, and twin DDs aged 5.
Used to be organised when it was me and one child... Twins came along and the world has turned upside down. I had no idea 2 girls could trash a house in less than 30 mins  Love 'em to bits though. I work part time and am self employed too... Always tired, never seem to get the house straight... in fact, any attempt by me to sort it out results in more mess.... HOW??? Definately one step forward and two back in this house.
Need to be a mountain goat to navigate the stairs and washing pile is getting ever bigger as I CBA to put washing on (its outside in small laundry [STRIKE]room [/STRIKE] shed and end up at MrT buying cheap knickers and socks for me and DDs
Have 3 full washing baskets and contemplating buying a fourth to house the carp on bedroom floor
Had an open fire put in my house in the summer so piles of wood everywhere - steptoes yard has nothing on my patio
Absolutely no room for Xmas tree because... well... because I need to clear up :rotfl: I have set tomorrow aside for ALL chores and will work like a dog until they are done... Honest Guv
Guilty pleasures = Mika and Aqua
:o:o:o
Fav food = everything
Lastly, have had the year from hell and cannot wait for it to be over. New Year, New Start and all that.
So, thats me
Hope I haven't bored anyone
ETA Is it wine o'clock yet? I've been on a self imposed ban on the ole grape juice just recently but it is nearly Xmas!!!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!
