this is me, i am an awful housewife when it comes to house work. But i dont think anyone in our house has the tidy gene so it just gets worse.
have to admit i'm ashamed of how my house looks.
any tips? did try Fly lady years ago but couldnt keep up with it all, is it worth trying again?
i work shifts so not always possible to tidy etc in a morning (i do 8-3 or 3-10 5 days a week)
I dont know how old your kids are or other situation in your house, but I have been doing a lot of thinking today and have realised that a lot of the mess is not MINE. DH thinks something will happen to his manhood if he does anything remotely "domestic". I cleared 4 ties, 4 pairs of shoes, shirts, heaps of paperwork, glasses and cups from last night from the livingroom, put away all the sauces etc he used for dinner and heaps more including picking up his washing from the floor, cleaning his stubble from the basin. I have drawn up a sort of roster/list of things I expect him to do to help, and if he doesn't then the sky remote will be hidden. I have also decided to take a more drastic route.... I have booked a cleaner to come and do the deep cleaning so I will have more time to deal with the clutter - most of which is his work related rubbish all over the place. Oh and the money to pay for cleaner will be from his "beer/entertainment fund"
So, my first step to getting my situation better is to not be a skivvy LOL. He hasnt any tidy genes at all, but he will learn to do it soon enough. Maybe you can think of some way to get the people in your household to comply and help you keep things in order.0 -

Oh well there you go then. They are all old enough to do their bit around to help you. My hubby works too, but I figured it is not exactly exhausting to just take his glass, plate and put it in the DW. He goes to the bedroom or loo at some stage during the evening, so he can take his tie, shoes and put them away. He goes to the kitchen to get a beer out of fridge, so he can put his dirty washing in the wash basket and his empty beer can in the bin. All virtualy within arms reach of each other LOL. Remember you work too. I have been in a situation where I was working, he was at home, but I stil had to come home and clean up his mess !. Moms and wives even if we stay at home have had 24/7 duties at some stage while the lil ones were growing up.
ooh lol... didnt mean this to be a hubby bashing thread :eek:0 -

If my OH does stuff like that then i hide the objects at the foot of his side of the bed - he doesn't discover them till he gets in and jumps a mile :rotfl: Soon gets the message.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I am about to set off and do a mad half hour dash around the house tidying up. I am feeling quite good because I managed to cut all the grass this afternoon - and we have a big garden. It was so hard to motivate myself to do it so I am feeling really pleased at how nice it looks.
However this means that I have done nothing inside. I pulled a pile of stuff out of the bottom of the wardrobe this morning to sort out into keep/ebay/charity shop but thats as far as I have got so its still sitting in a messy heap on the floor.
Right off to have a bit of a tidy up, cant believe its Friday tomorrow, where has this week gone?0 -
I've just cleaned my fridge out completely. As it's quite big I'm feeling quite proud of myself!! I also went out and painted my front wall, window sill and railings. I'm knackered!!0

Hi everyone and welcome newbie. Well Im covered in paint after the continuation of the kitchen walls from yesterday. Now waiting for the tea to cook. Ill have to put another coat on the walls and ceiling so thats another pot of paint. Iv already used two big cans of dulex. Mind you one of them I bought when Wilkinsons were selling them off at just under a fiver.
Bird is banging his dishes around so Ill have to feed the little git . For a little bird he can consume a lot of food. He loves chips.
Oh has been unwell with fibro and fatiugue so cant do much but in a way its worked out as he cant stand over me when painting pointing out the bits Iv missed. Dont get me wrong Id rather he was well.
Didi I know what you mean about hording. Im steadily getting rid but its a big task. Baby steps will get it done.
Cleaned dd room yesterday . Toilet roll that she has used to make herself breasts, she is only eight, was all over the floor, drawring paper , spilt juice, dirty clothing and clean all mixed together and toys all over the room. This child goes through the house like a tornado making mess. Drives me insane.
Kitchen is dazzling white floor to ceiling will have to buy shades for my eyes,lol.0 -

VJsmum, Frankly there would not be enough space at his side of the bed for all the objects. It would take up the whole bed and some more :rotfl:, and besides that, he would just kick it off onto the floor or just sleep with the objects. Have to say, it is entirely my OWN fault for letting him get away with it. Yah know the saying ... built a rod for my own back ?!. All in all he is an amazing hubby in other ways and we have been married for 25 years. I have just got to a stage where enough is enough and I am taking control of things now. The house is OUR responsibility and I will endeavour to do what it takes to ensure that we share the load to make and keep it in order.0
