I'll be glued to springwatch as well, wish they would just go all year round!

I haven't done anywhere near as much as you have Emm. I pottered in the garden a bit, made a big rice salad to freeze, and slobbed about.

The rice salad is lovely, had two bowls of it before freezing the rest :o

I've just checked and our forecast is dry for tomorrow and Sat too - fingers crossed, and we get the garden bins emptied tomorrow so I can fill them straight back up again :rotfl:

It's been a lovely warm sunny day here, but with a very strong wind. Glad it was dry because I put 3 loads through the wm yesterday evening, and we managed to fit it all on the line this morning. Fortunately DH was nearby when the sheet took off the line, and managed to catch it before it needed rewashing, and our neighbour passed him the pillowcases which had landed in her garden! There were at least 8 pegs on the sheet, and several on each pillowcase, so I guess the wind was too strong for them. All the washing dried beautifully, and has been sorted and put away. DH is away again from tomorrow, so I'll have a chance to get rid of stuff (rubbish/junk) he's been hanging onto, as he's not back until after the rubbish van comes next Wednesday. I'm not underhand or devious, honest, I'm just sick of tat being kept for no reason I personally am unable to see. I should go to bed now, else I'll oversleep tomorrow, and that won't do at all. Night everyone.

The wind has been like that here too. I've been chasing laundry all over the place!

    Morning Messies!
Fpcat - lucky you, able to get rid of tat! I`d LOVE to get rid of some of DS`s from spare room of Doom, I`d even do devious if I could get away with it, but he`d notice and get in a strop! Nice one not having to re-wash escaped bedding too.

JPS, what d`you put in your rice salad? I`ve frozen leftover eggy-fried rice, and plain cooked rice, but not rice salad cos of the raw salady bits.

I managed to clear the woolly rug/dog bedding heap from kitchen last night, all washed and out on the washing line since 9.30 am. Lovely day, lots of bees around.
I`m going to change into shorter trousers/vest and go potter outside again, make the most of this sunshine!
Kitchen floor still needs blitzing, may do i later on. Or not...

Hi Messies, here`s the weekend again....
Today I`ve changed beds & washed bedding - one set just brought in dry, second lot just pegged out. Haven`t had to chase any yet but it is very blowy. One more set to go in WM before I nip to Mr M`s with DGD.
I have also put away some other laundry, cleaned kitchen sink & worktops.
Still haven`t done kitchen floor. Yet.
Hope you`re all enjoying the weekend so far. x

Haven't done much this weekend as we headed off to the seaside. DH has mowed the lawn and done the washing up and I have just kept the bathroom and the floors feasible. Had a very relaxing time, why is relaxing so tiring?

Next week I'm going to do lots of the tasks I put off like cleaning the blinds and stuff like that. Hope you're all getting some nice sunny days finally.

Afternoon messies... I've been under the weather with what I think was a mild version of norovirus - felt sick but didn't have the vomiting, however other symptoms made up for it and have lymph glands up like marbles in my neck.

I've slept for about three days, lost my appetite (NEVER happens to me) for a day or so, but still managed to eat quite well.

I still feel a bit feak and weeble (old family spoonerism!) but am much better today and have done two loads of washing, sorted my school bags, put a slow cooker full of bolognaise on, read the gas and electricity meters, emptied the bins, and done some tidying.

Still to go: hoovering, make rice to freeze, finish tidying, plant up hanging baskets, mow some of the lawn, mop floors  epilate my fine moustache and try to sort out my very sad nails.

Those of you who remember my cricket-wrangling adventures of last summer will recall that I bought a lovely large plastic aquarium thingy for them. Well the crickets all passed away in the winter, and having bought a CD I think I might give crickets a miss this year.

Well... this year's adventure is the garden pond. It had suffocated under a blanket of duckweed, and I noticed too late to save all my beautiful water soldier plants and pretty much everything that was in there. No fish, as I hadn't restocked the pond after those two terrible cold winters till I knew it wasn't going to be every year.

The frogs are still loving it, but their spawn didn't survive the duckweed disaster :(

Anyhoo, I have now cleaned and refilled the pond, put a new water lily in, with some native oxygenator plants and a bag of watercress (grows incredibly well in water in the garden - but I wouldn't eat it as I'm not sure about snails and bacteria and so on in garden ponds). I've ordered a cheapie solar fountain to solve the choking problem, as it keeps the water aerated and at least moves the duckweed aside till I can skim it off.

While the pond settles, I have housed four lovely comets in the old cricket aquarium (that's where I was going with mentioning that!) They're only 2" and I have put in a fairly powerful filter, but I'm scared they'll suffer poisoning because the tank is way too small for them really.

So... I'm currently doing 50% water changes every day - not as difficult as it sounds really and using water conditioner. So far so good, they seem very happy.

When they finally go in the pond, I might get a Betta fish for the aquarium as they are very undemanding and the only fish that I could really keep in one this size.

OK this isn't getting the hoovering done - that keeps autocorrecting to hovering - which would be a lot more fun actually :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a good day... fellow school workers - only 7 weeks to go till we get to the best thing about education... Summer!

    Afternoon Messies!

Alec E - hope you enjoyed seaside visit. I suspect your definition of `feasible` floors might differ from mine though, if you had seen my kitchen floor....

JPS, think you probably did the best thing just sleeping off that lurgie, I`m glad you`re feeling better but don`t overdo it now. Good luck with the pond & little fishies!

    Sunny but windy again here.
DGD & I decided to give the car-boot a miss this week, so I thought it`s still great drying weather and was going to wash kitchen mats. This finally shamed me into sweeping & washing the floor. It was Very Bad Indeed. Can`t say what was in the sweepings as it was mostly beyond recognition, and beyond the point where Daftie-dog would show any interest!!!
I`ve also been & had Deep Speech with Strimmer Man, and he has `pencilled me in` for Friday. I just hope it doesn`t get all wet & too soggy to cut again in the meantime!

Glad you're on the mend jps, getting over that kind of thing is rough though sometimes. Feeling well enough to do things but then feeling terrible from doing too much too soon *yuck*

Feasible means "not totally covered in hay and bunny fluff". I removed some paint from the kitchen floor this week from the chairs I painted last month and while I was at it I scraped the last bit of bright blue paint from when I painted a sideboard two years ago. So if that makes anyone feel better then that's good :)

Seaside visit was fab, it's a bit grand calling it a visit really as it's only about 10 minutes walk. Still, we don't go there enough.
