My home is a mess

Congratulations Mr and Mrs gilly1964!! So glad your day was lovely and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. Enjoy your honeymoon!
Oh messies, I am in an almighty mess here. The house is a terrible state and even the bits I usually keep clean and tidy are a mess.
The garden has run away from me and needs extreme mowing, weeding and tidying.
It's a beautiful day - but I'm feeling really carp!! I need it to be horrible and rainy so I can hide under a duvet. It's just not fair!
I'm going to take some painkillers and see if it helps... it may not, because it's the dreaded monthlies (only they've stopped being monthly again for the time being) and I feel like I've got a spiky beachball in my womb! Sorry for TMII believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning All!
The sun is shining, the wind and rain have gone away - lovely! This beautiful day makes me feel more like getting on with doing stuff - but, OH has decreed that we`re going to the pub this afternoon.Being a weak & feeble Emm, I have agreed!
fpcat, ((HUGS)) to you. it`s hurtful when the menfolk don`t notice what you`ve done - my OH is a bit like that, but the up-side is he doesn`t seem to notice and comment when I HAVEN`T done stuff. Some blokes you have to actually TELL them what you`ve been doing, and how much effort you`ve put into things, because they honestly don`t realise - as long as His chair is sittable in, and he feels well-fed...
JPS, ((HUGS))to you as well. OK, so the usual `tidy parts` are messy, but you did get a load of laundry done the other day. You`ll catch up when you feel a bit better, but for now just make yourself a comfy patch where you can snuggle with a hot water bottle & painkillers till your innards stop playing up.
As for the garden "running away", you should see mine!! It`s all long grass & long-stemmed dadndelions now, nettles & buttercups starting to assert themselves. The path beside the washing lines has disappeared again (does this every year) and it`s time to call in Strimmer Man - only it`s still too wet for strimming. Mowing here is out of the question. OK, the apple trees are covered in lovely blossom, and the birdfeeders are busy. Birds singing their little heads off out there, it`s a proper haven for them & the bees - but GAWD it looks a MESS! OH says calmly that it`s a lovely garden with all those critters flying around, and we`ve also got a Magpie nest further down the garden in the plum `forest`.. The youngsters are fledged but still a bit sort of clumsy, great to watch. The parent birds have had a couple of spats with the squirrels too. But the garden is still a Mess - the only `clear bit is the decking, and you have to wade through the undergrowth (or should I say `over-growth?) to get to it!
DGD has surfaced, scoffed a bowl of leftover pasta with Red Goo, and gone back to bed! She has done this without getting Red Goo all over herself and the kitchen, too, so could be worse.
Whatever the Messy Status in our homes (and gardens!), we can only do what we can do. Trying to work around weather conditions, and health/work/family/cash
limitations is probably always going to leave most of us with a `deficit` feeling, between what we`d like to do and what gets done. The only solution is to prioritise, and be happy about what we DO get done, and not beat ourselves up about the stuff that doesn`t yet!
End of sermon. I need to go pluck my chin & stuff.
Enjoy the weekend, however Messy it may be! x0 -
Thanks Emm... that's what I need to hear!
I thought I might be ok, and started to get ready for a bit of outdoorsing. I managed to put up a new washing line, and put out some washing, but then felt a bit nauseous so came inside. Realising it was lunchtime, I made some egg butties and sat down for a bit, but now when I stand up my legs are all wobbly.
Given that I also feel like bursting into tears, I'm assuming this is all monthly-related and not some terrifying new ailment!
Some great news in the garden... a greater spotted woodpecker is visiting my peanut feeder! Got a couple of good looks at it today, really exciting.
I think I'll settle for the hot water bottle and some DVDs now, the forecast is good for tomorrow so there's always hope!
Edit: Just managed to change the bedsheets, so at least if I have to go and zonk out it'll be in a nice clean bed!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi Messies!
JPS, I hope you`re feeling better today, but you still don`t want to be overdoing things. It`s awful when you feel everything has to be crammed into action on a sunny day because it`s forecast wet & windy the day after. I was thinking that way myself, but after a morning wandering round the car-boot with DGD I`m not up for anything energetic. We must have done a few miles going up & down each row of stalls, it`s a huge field.... Great news about your woodpecker. We had a couple who were `regulars` here, but have only seen one a couple of times this year. Maybe the Magpies have put them off!
One of the young magpies was perched on the sloping edge of the greenhouse roof earlier, and kept sliding down - not happy, eventually slid off. Greenhouse itself is full of weeds, mostly thistles. OH says it`s a mini ecosystem in there, but how he knows this is a mystery because the door isn`t accessible on account of brambles & nettles.
Car boot - managed not to buy any junk (wow!) but I got a nice little burnt orange leather handbag that`ll go with my ancient but still ok sandals, DGD found a bag she liked too, a pack of heavy duty scourers, and Best of All - BACON BONES!!! We`re having them tonight, with chips & mushy peas. OH is delighted at the very thought.
Messy to eat, but SO good, lots of white pepper & vinegar...drools over keyboard.
Peas have boiled over once already - maybe I`ll use those scourers tomorrow...or not...0 -
Hi all
Lovely and sunny here still, hope everyone has had a nice weekend. I am feeling a bit fidgety, the house is OKish but upstairs could do with a hoover. Might go and tackle it now instead of leaving it until tomorrow.
I am taking the kids and a friend away camping for a couple of days this week. I am hoping that this will be a nice mse way to entertain them for a couple of days and also hope it will stop them arguing. They are going through one of those phases at the moment when they are best mates one minute and hate each other the next. The weather forecast isnt too brilliant but we arent going far so if worst comes to the worst we can pack up and come home!
Take it easy JPS, hope you are feeling OK. Oh and Emms, I love a good car boot, you did well to come away with just one bag!
Oh, fpcat, you have just reminded me that I need to empty the hoover and I hate doing that. Mmm, that cleaning might wait until tomorrow after all!0 -
Thanks Emm and YL... I do feel much better today, and have managed to cut the grass - all of it! It's so much easier if I keep on top of it and I may not have another chance now till we break up for the summer.
I've also bought a few plants from FB, they've opened a little garden centre at their store in my town. I got some lovely petunia surfinia, purple/blue semidouble flowers with a lovely scent. Also some light pink verbena and a nice trailing flower in a sort of pinkish apricot colour.
I shouldn't really have spent the money but what the heck - just hope the weather isn't too cold and wet for them like it was last summer!
So now I need to get around to the weeding - it never ends!
Hope the camping is fun and the weather is kind to you YL.
Emm, I've actually been considering getting one of those cheap walk-in plastic greenhouses just to sit in! At least I'd be warm :cool:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi Messies!
YL - I hope the weather stays reasonable for your camping trip. We used to do this a lot when the kids were young, and it was ok as long as bedding stayed dry - a bit of mud and some odd drizzle didn`t put us off too much. If it IS a disaster it`s usually something that you can laugh about afterwards though, and we had quite a lot of those too!
JPS, well done on the gardening. You put me to Shame. (Hangs head...) I have done Nothing outdoorsy - and very little indoorsy, come to that!
Yesterday pm was hot & sunny, sat outside on the decking with OH watching the birds and my lovely bees...cooking bacon bones (2 changes of boiling water) & mushy peas at the same time, so couldn`t really do garden `pottering` as well. As it was, the mushy peas had an issue - very exuberant, so much boil-over `twas a wonder there was still so much in the pan!
Today -
I got up quite early, and full of good intentions. Put leftover mushy peas in the freezer, bones in green bin & bins out for today`s collection, cleaned up the mushy pea mess off hob (not too bad, it dries into a sort of biscuit texture) & pans. Had a mad `toast & Marmite` session with DGD, finished off the bread between us.
Then nipped out to co-op for bread & milk. Dull day, but dry.
Got home, put on socks & garden clogs....and it started to rain, and has rained steadily ever since, very glumming.
One Achievement-
We have 2 log-baskets, one either side of hearth, one full of logs, the other with kindling AND rubbish. I am the guilty party as most of the rubbish was mine. I have emptied it and removed basket to caravan of Doom, replaced it with a much smaller basket (sticks only) and a ceramic elephant. Because it looked a bit bare after I`d cleaned that little patch of floor, and Nature abhors a vacuum, and I found the elephant when looking for the small basket...0 -
