    Afternoon Messies.

Oh, Emms, what a waste of time with the sealant! That must have been so irritating, but it almost sounds like something from a comedy. I know what you mean about flour. OH is a great cook, but flour is a nightmare when he's using it. Luckily, when we have pancakes, I make the batter, and he cooks them.

Haven't done a lot today, although I have wiped over the kitchen work surfaces (there may not be any flour, but there was plenty of other stuff spread about),and dug out some dock plants from the front garden that were spreading scarily fast. I wanted to celan the bathroom, but OH is planning on having a shave when he comes in later, so, really, what's the point of me cleaning the basin now? I have most of my cardmaking materials (moslty in plastic files) on the floor in this room, in the process of being re-sorted. I found a small filing case in the conservatory, that I'd forgotten about, and it was nearly empty. What a waste! So, a re-arrangement is in progress.

Bearcub, I totally agree it`s pointless cleaning washbasin before someone shaves -- DS alternates between beard & clean-shaven, so makes a horrid mess with his shavy-huff. OH uses electric shavy-huff and makes no mess at all, Bless`im.
The sealant thing WAS funny actually.
I was so cross that folks came to see why...DGD got the giggles (the look on my face, apparently) and that was it. She`s not one of those annoying gigglers, but when something starts her off she has a very infectious laugh. So we were all at it!
How nice to find things you forgot about and CAN use, isn`t it?

I`m making a lamb curry for tonight (day 3 of defrosted YS leg), and have transerred a bit more stuff into my `new` spice jars.
I`ve also been out to the car, adjusted the seat (DGD`s mama was driving it last few times) and turned car around, ready for tomorrow. I`ve put a small bottle of vinegar (they never put enough on the chips!) and some wet wipes for after, in the glove box!
    Getting exited now!

Not posted for a while here - day off from work today and I was determined to achieve something other than lazing about. Much needed haircut arranged first thing gave me motivation to get up at a reasonable hour.

Gathered up a whole lot of scrap paper that has been all over the place for a shamefully long time. I filled one bag so much it actually burst.

Gave the bathroom a much needed scrub. This included a very vigorous session de-gunging the sink with a plunger - now I know why it was taking such a long time to empty. Bearcub as a bloke with a stubble growth like Desperate Dan (if I miss one day it looks like I'm growing a beard) I know what you mean about effect of shaving on sink cleanliness. Right after I've shaved I give the sink a quick wipe with toilet paper which seems to take all the bristle off. I consider it a simple courtesy if I'm shaving in someone else's bathroom.

Tidied and organised my hymn music and even selected what's required for this weekend. For me that's unheard of - it's usually a scramble late on Saturday afternoon. I must ensure that I don't let it get out of control like that again because I'm forever losing the one vital bit of paper I need just before it's needed.

Did a little culinary experimentation - last night's dinner was polenta with fried onions, chopped tomatoes and cheese. I think it will be one of my quick filling meals as a change from pasta - it was delicious. I slow cooked a 'Mr A' turkey drumstick with veg yesterday - got 300 grams of cooked meat from it which seems pretty good considering it's 700g raw with bone in. Also got a good litre of stock from it. Now I don't have to think about dinner for the next couple of days other than microwaving whatever is leftover.

Decided to use some of the packets of dried veg I've had in for a while and not been sure what to do with. Just now I have cooling what I hope will turn out to be peas pudding. Next experiment I think will be chickpea curry. As a lifelong carnivore I'm intrigued to see if I can interest myself in meat-free stuff that is suitably tasty and filling.

As well as aiming to get a lot more cleaning/tidying done at the weekend, I think I'm going to have to try and do most of my cooking then as well because motivation and inspiration is at rock bottom when I get home during the week.

Good to read of others making progress. I'm humbled at folk carrying on despite various physical limitations - absolutely no excuse for me not to get my act together here.

    Hi Everyone

Two more sleeps until I become Mrs gilly1964:j:j

Please keep your fingers crossed for the weather on Saturday, a little rain I can cope with, but please don't let it be cold.

We are off on our honeymoon on Sunday until June 6th and I will then be back with you properly

We have already received many generous gifts, so after the honeymoon I will be having a major declutter particularly in the kitchen and the airing cupboard.

Why do we have single sheets when there are no single beds in the house?

We also have many photos which my beloved has taken so they will be going in frames as they are beautiful and deserve to be on display. We already have the frames, just haven't got our back sides in gear to do the work.

    See you all soon xx

    Morning.

DH has been off work this week in order to get some work done but we've still managed to have two days out (it's holiday he's taken so it's not skiving). Yesterday we went shopping and I bought a pile of new underwear and it's nice, not just boring stuff so that's one enjoyment-free task out of the way for a while :)

Catching up on laundry today, tidied my wardrobe, chucked some old underwear out and had a general tidy round. Have a good day everyone.

Gilly - Fingers are crossed for you for Saturday`s weather. Not long now so here`s wishing you and `Mr Gilly` all the best from all at Chez-Emm (in case you are kind of busy tomorrow)
Grousescot - good to hear from you again, well done on the sorting and cleaning.
Culinary experiments beat following recipes IMHO, and I`m a big fan of the odd turkey leg - great value for money if cooked slowly, and you can add the meat to just about anything.
Alec E - enjoy the new undies! (I`m not buying - or chucking anything now, till I see what happens to my middle over the next few weeks. Still a bit baggy in the girth, but should reduce a bit as I`m doing the exercises advised, and as they`ve removed pounds & pounds of gubbins I`m hoping to be a lot less ...rotund)

    Today was BRILL!
It was just wonderful to get back in the driver`s seat and go where and when WE wanted to. Skipped a bootload of stuff, mostly cardboard, first. We got some still-warm ciabatta loaves at Lidl, some more sealant & some `garden track` thingies, then the Splendid Fish & Chips. We sat there stuffing our faces, and getting envious looks from a few folks who passed us. Lovely!
Called in farmshop on the way home, just for some salad stuff.(light meal tonight, salad & cold chicken, with ciabatta to dip in dressing.)
OH says he supposes I`ll want to go shopping tomorrow....

Oh Messies, I`m tired but Happy!
(so is OH, because we`re going nowhere tomorrow!)
    So far today -
Another skip run done (garden rubbish)
Mr T`s, used up a £6 off voucher & got petrol 10p/litre off.
Parked up in town, had a mooch around poundshops etc. (tiring but daren`t admit it to OH, or I`ll be `grounded` again!)
Went to farmshop again, 3 bags of compost/£10, village bakery bread, as well as the fruit/veg. Belly pork, spring cabbage & local new potatoes tonight, nice & simple.
Hope you`re all planning a nice weekend. x.
    (especially Gilly!)

Gilly, very very best wishes for Saturday and every happiness to you and Mr Gilly!

Well done Emm on your continued recovery.... enjoy a good rest now!

Grousescot, when I am on top of things I do lunches for the week and fridge/freeze them and also a slow cooker full of stew or bolognaise-ish stuff for dinners. Done it for the last three weeks and it's worked so well.

No change in messy status here, well if anything a bit worse. Ah well - c'est le weekend!

    Weekend it is!
    Weather is reasonable here too.
I`m not de-messying today, just pottering. I`m not resting either, as I`m too fidgety, but can`t get in the mood...I have exchanged some furtive glances with Henry, but nothing came of that.
I`ve applied some remover stuff to downstairs washbasin. Although the sealant tape didn`t stick it left some sticky stuff behind. Stuff smells horrible, so leaving it to do it`s thing, glad there`s plenty left in case I bodge the new silicone stuff when I re-do it. Im cooking some Chinese-coated chicken thighs for with salad tonight, so that smell is now taking over - much better!
DGD is in residence for the weekend (DS still away so kitchen not bad...) and as we`re going to car-boot tomorrow the `weekend` routine has been completed early - her uniform/sports kit/hair all washed today, and hair getting brushed/de-dagged as I type. She`s had strict instructions at length from OH about `keeping her eye on me` tomorrow - like I`m hyper-active or something!
Some of my Nasturtiums & Marigolds have started sprouting, (in paper pots so Im not having to transplant them) but it may be a bit too soon to put them amongst the dandelions etc to fend for themselves, so that`s another `not today` job.....
Think I`ll go and have a scrape at the washbasin now, then maybe have a go with the nozzly thing....
