What about cheques issued by HMRC? Would they be payable beyond 6 months, either through policy or through their bank not noticing?

They may not notice, but for HMRC, surely it would be safer to contact them and reqest they reissue the cheque?
    Best Regards

Having done too many bank recs in my life time I can vouch for the fact that banks will clear cheques well outside 6 months!!

There's a lot of unsupported views being promoted here as "fact". Some are correct, others not.

    Here is the official position:

How much is the cheque for now?

I thought it may have gone up in value since yesterday where it was £10 at 9.30am and £15 at 6.00pm. I'd hang on to a cheque like that for a few more hours if it's doubling in value every 16 hours! lol
