I know it's not one of your choices, but I bank with Natwest. They have a fairly good online banking system, and, as far as I know, is the only bank to show pending card payments (it doesn't show go it's to, but it does show "debit card transaction pending" or something like that.
Most other banks will just deduct the funds from your available balance, but show nothing on your statement until the funds have cleared.

It depends on what Debit card you get given from Natwest. When I had the purple card transactions only used to show after they had cleared. Then my card got changed to the Blue one as I didn't use the account much and pending transactions now how as blank entries in a different colour online until they clear.

It is probably due to full auth and offline auth that has been mentioned.

They should apply their monthly charges and fees in the first day of the month but it should be "before the end of the business day".

Care to source where in the T&C's LTSB state this?

It's 20.13 now - still no show, but I am planning on staying till 0000 and then complain to the ombudsman.

What difference does it make? As long as you know they around going to debit and have sufficient cleared funds, why waste an evening check LTSB Internet Banking every five minutes?

FYI, you must follow LTSB's official complaints procedure before escalating such trivial matters to the Ombudsman.

Same thing with cash withdrawals payments and so on.

Incorrect. Like other banks LTSB clear UK cash withdrawals real-time.

My bank - NatWest shows everything instantly.

I don't believe that's the case. A pending debit card payment would not show on your account balance as it has not been settled. Most banks combat this by displaying an "available" or "cleared" balance, which takes into account any un-cleared items.

Re the person with the book with balance - the whole point of all these statements and on-line banking is to simplify things and make them easier. I want to see what I actually have when I need to know.

The debit card system in the UK works largely the same way from bank to bank i.e. payments generally take a few days to be settled by the merchant. Online and offline debit cards still (in most circumstances) post an authorisation hold to your account, the difference between the two being the former also does a check for available funds.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

I dont know but Barclays internet banking is driving me mad - its still not showing what transactions I made last Thursday  although the money has come off my available balance, I need to know if some certain very important debit card payments have gone through!!

HSBC Australia opened a UK bank account for me back there. Had to deposit £300 though, but that wasn't exactly an issue, I was going to use it anyway.

I'm sorry to say but I don't think you have anything to complain about!

You are mis(if at all)informed - it is usually after close of business the first working day of a month for charges/interest and the end of your billing period for account fees. Statements day exactly how much and on what day though.

So it's still the same day after close of business. You would have to receive a final response from their internal complaints department before the FOS will deal with you.

Cash withdrawals are straight away and most debit card txns are earmarked. This will be exactly the same as Natwest.
