    hi,

i was wondering as a bargain hunter LOL if i should try and lower the price of a car at a dealership?

i have seen a nice Citroen C3 at £4.5 k and was wondering if it would be worth trying to bargain the price (never done it before).

just wondering if anyone has done this before?

    thanks

whatever car you buy DONT pay the asking price.when a dealer prices a car he always builds in a reduction but as someone else has said dont make a silly offer but on a £4.5 k price id offer £4100 he will tell you he cant let it go for less than £4400 you tell him £4250 and thats the best you can do and be prepared to walk if he refuses theres lots of cars out there and its a buyers market.;)
counting down the time I got left.:beer:

£4.5k for a C3, is it preregistered with delevery mileage.

That is sadly the only C3 I would buy for £4.5k

There are many better cars out there.

My wifes Clio has been a good buy.

There are lots at Independant dealers for your £4.5

And all will negotiate a few quid off, start at £4k or so as already suggested, the worst he can say is no.

My mum and dad bought a petrol 207 during the scrappage scheme and they really rate it.

Dont buy a C3 but a Clio is ok....Really? they are both french and both have reliability issues

To the O/P - you need to evaluate how the car is priced compared to others.

I'd rather have £100 off a car priced at £3,500 than the equivalent car priced at £4,500 with £1000 off the price.

    Ever owned a Clio?

I know several people that have owned C3's and they were all unreliable. I have also known several people with new shape Clios and none of them have had any problems, my sister had a Modus a couple of years ago and that was perfectly reliable, she only changed it as she wanted a new shape Mini Cooper.

I assume that you have first hand experience with the new shape Clio, 2006 on? Or are you just jumping on the it is french and therefore crap bandwagon.

There are certain things that the french make very well, one of these is the small family car such as a Clio or 207. I can't really recommend a 207 on the basis of one owner, my dad, having no reliability issues. However I will recommend a car on the basis that I know several people, including the wife, that have had no problems. And I shall happily advise against buying a car on the basis that several friends have had problems with a car.
