Seriously that amount of either D in P or P in D will not have any detrimental effect on an engine at all.
You did exactly the right thing by diluting with the correct fuel as in surance. :T
That all very much depends on what car it is.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
For some reason , blank mind session i think , i managed to get 60p worth of Diesel into my tank before realising !
Quickly topped up with unleaded !
Would this amount of diesel make my engine suffer any adverse effects ? what would be best course of action ?
Regards
I presume this is a very old car. Cars built from about twenty years ago (perhaps even earlier) would have a smaller fuel filler than the diesel nozzle. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Nope, that rate of dilution will not affect any car, as most others agree.
60p in a £40 -£50 tank??????????????????????????????????I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Agreed. It's a drop in the ocean... so to speak.
Certainly not worth losing any sleep over.0 -
So, putting diesel in a petrol engine, is better than putting petrol in a diesel engine? Are you sure about that? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

I think you might have got that the wrong way round.
Nope, ive got it the right way round. A diesel pump is designed to be lubricated with diesel, petrol is a solvent and will clean any lubricant out of the system and can knacker the pump.;)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
