You can buy satellite cable on rolls from Wickes/B&Q etc. If you're installing a dish with multiple LNBs (ie for a twin tuner box), scour ebay for twin LNB cable which means you only have to run one cable.

Use dishpointer DOT com to help aligning your dish, it's brilliant.

How many feeds do you require?
WF100 is usually recommended on here.
As mentioned above, you could use shotgun cable if you are setting up a twin fed to a PVR.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Any ideas of the actual cable though. I do not want cheap cable.

Why would you not want cheap cable? I used the reel of cable I got from one of the above shops to install 4 dishes without problems. Don't put a 90 degree bend in a cable, and it'll work just fine.

Key point is to make sure the connectors are connected properly.

Because cheap cable is rubbish!! I have lost count of the amount of fault's I've been to where a spark or homeowner tried to save a few quid by using the cheap stuff.
For one thing it's not properly shielded,it's easy to damage & the signal loss over distance can be quite high.

    @1984ReturnsForReal,

You need a WF100,CT100 or equivelent.

All cable is dirt cheap, even top of the line Webro WF100 is cheap at @ 25p a meter so there is no reason not to use it.

But I buy drums and drums of the stuff, km's a week, so the cost saving for us could be worth while. I have tried using RG6 etc.. as a trial and its just not worth it you get called back more for poor connections etc..

    You mate are a star.

I was looking at the dodgy install done on my house & saw as well as the abortion of dish & bracket they used what looks like silver cable (some sort of alloy) which will conduct worse than copper.

I have to relocate the dish to somewhere suitable & it looks like its going to be a 40 to 50m run for each of the 4 cables.

So you have just solved my problem.

Thanks for your help. Now I know exactly what to buy.

    Cheers macman.

I missed your reply as I was posting as the same time.

Now I have 2 people confirmed the same cable type.

    Thanks

Read about coaxial cable quality: http://www.glodark.com/cable.htm
    http://www.google.com/search?&q=Coaxial+cable+quality

WF100 is normally around 60p per meter (not 25p).

No dramas mate, and I agree with mac,if you have a Sky plus/HD then you could use Shotgun although when I was a dish monkey for Sky (after my VM redundancy ) on my HD course, the instructor said that he didn't recommend Shotgun for runs over 30meters.(but that was 2007ish)
