that maternity charity is a great idea for anyone wanting to get a gift for a mum who has everything and doesn't really want a gift. i'd have loved that but my pressie was bought this afternoon and in true moneysaving style i already have gifts for everyone else (that boots natural collection stuff from months ago lol!!). i'll remember it for next year though.

hmmm, what am i doing? babysitting everyone else's kids while we're at the snowdome. it's someone's birthday so we're all going toboganning and snowmobiling (playing in the snow for the kids over 5) while i stand watching with the babies (i'm pregnant so i can't take part). after that we're visiting my mum and my gran. gifts aren't important in my family, a card is all that's needed to let people know they're being thought off but we usually get something small for the mums and grannies. quality time is much more valued, especially by the grans. i'll cook for my gran (she's 85 and broke her shoulder a few weeks ago) and will hopefully be able to tell her she's having a great-granddaughter (my scan is this week, she has 6 great grandsons and really wants someone to have a girl lol!). visits and family get togethers are great fun in our family, gifts really aren't that important.

my favourite mothers day gift was a trinket box my son made at a church fete. he spent ages making enough for all his grans and great-grans too, missing out on the bouncy castle because he loves his mum and nannies so much and didn't want anyone to feel left out when they saw my fab painted cardboard sequin-covered trinket box :D

Their loss I am sure - they should be proud of you being married for 28 years. Well done you.

My 9 year old will be with his Dad on Mothers Day. I am determined not to be miserable so am sorting a day with my future mother in law. (Shes fun!) We are going to go round a local garden centre and then come back, have a nice lunch cooked by the men and watch DVD Bridget Jones edge of reason. Sounds fab to me. My Mum died years ago and her favourite flowers were daffs so I will fill the house with them for her. xxx (She knows I love her coz I'm always talking to her, usually in the car! At least with hands free phones now people probably think I am on the phone not talking to myself).

I'll get breakfast in bed and a card for definite - anything else is a bonus but I always say I don't mind!

I NEVER go out for mother's day lunch cos it's so expensive - so we went out for dinner two days ago instead and I'll cook as normal next week  Not really bothered tho!

I think my daughter should be making up for the fact that she was born the day after Mothers Day and so stopped me getting loads of freebies from the hospital

I think my neice and nephew should do the same for my sister as they also appeared the day after Mothers Day and being twins she perhaps would have got 2 lots of freebies.

I was born on Mother's day - only trouble was it was before companies started jumping on the bandwagon and giving out freebies! My mum always used to say I ruined her dinner cos I was born at 2.30 pm! :D

Sadly my mum died unexpectedly last August so I shall take some flowers up to her grave as she was a great flower lover.

allycat that's lovely thanks. I'm okay about my mum really - I miss her and it doesn't help that I used to work with her either, but I've got a fantastic hubby and children, great sisters and brother, (and their families of course!) and I love my job so I just count my blessings and remember all the good things.

Thanks also for the happy birthday - unfortunately it's not this Sunday! My birthday is 28 March (and OMG I'll be 40  ) :D
