I would have said between £2.50, and £4, depending on what type of place it was.0

Thanks everyone for the replies. The cafe was Ashers on the Doagh Road at Mossley. I emailed them to complain and had quick response to say that it was a franchise and it would be passed on to the place concerned. After a week I emailed again and the quick response was to say the people who ran it did not have email and could I give my address and a contact number which I did.
Later on that day I had a call from a mobile number saying they were sorry for not having contacted me sooner as they had been off!! I was told that was the going rate and they were very good value in the area as I could have had a full fry (free tea up to 11) for £6. I did point out that all I wanted was a bacon bap and a tea but again was told that was the pricing structure.
Will not be back even for a £6 fry!Dave0 -

Talking of rip-offs, Rendell's Coffee House on the Lisburn Rd. once charged me £1 for one small biscuit to go with my coffee - though they do fill up your coffee free of charge as often as you like.0

Sure there's a place on Botanic Avenue that offer bacon baps and any tea/coffee for £2.50, can't quite remember which one it is thoughThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

When I was working for VM & did job's up that neck of the woods,we did sometimes call in there for a pastie ect & the prices did seem high to us back then in 2005 ish.0 -
If the price really bothers you that much, just don't go there again. Emailing them, and continuing to do so is absolutely ridiculous.0

OP is simply letting us all know that the certain cafe charged that gross amount for a bacon butty and cuppa, for which we applaud him :T This is Money Saving Expert after all, we now know to avoid the establishment because of excessive charging.
Small Cafe in the hospital I work in charged nearly a fiver for a butty and a cuppa too  Staff got a slight discount, but I could go over the road to Tesco cafe and get a full fry with chips and a coffee for well under a fiver
We are very savvy in Norn Iron and appreciate advice on overcharging establishments.I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
