We completely cancelled our Sky package 2 wks ago, intending to buy a Freesat + box.
Phone call from Sky this morning, asking us to come back. Have been offered basic package (19.50 per month) at 50% for 6 months, plus £50 bill credit.
6 months recording facility for £8.50 :j
Freesat box idea on hold for a few months now!
Now proud Mumto3 :j

But they'll make it all back on the full price charged for the remainder of the 12m contract. A Freesat PVR will pay for itself within a year.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I have had freesat when I also cancelled sky. Freesat is o.k. but got to say sky is better - more choice, better remote control, quicker, better menu system, etc. I was also offered a half price deal from sky and sold the freesat box. Just my opinion, others may disagree. Agree sky is more expensive than freesat, but at the half-price deal, is worth it.

Freesat is a system, not a device, the remote, menu system etc will depend on the box you buy. The Humax interface is better than Sky IMHO.
Sky is not 'more expensive', Freesat is free!

No contract - just 31 days notice. Note made on calendar to ring in 5 months time to cancel, then get freesat. Prices may drop a bit in the meantime
