Fitting temp controls to rads??

Hi All,
Hope this is the right forum for my question, BG's feel free to move if I'm wrong.
We've moved into a house which has individual heating controls on each rad rather than a house thermostat. Now they work really well but the 2 enormous upright rads/towel rails in the bathrooms have no control and are BOILING hot all the time. As long as the heating is on these things are roasting, so hot you cant touch them and its costing me a bleeding fortune!!!!
Is it possible to have controls fitted? Does anyone know how easy (or not) it would be? I assume I need a qualified person but would really appreciate an idea of cost so I'm not ripped off.
Any help gratefully received,
Al.

fit TVRs to all rads but one. this is easy job. they cost from £5 each or no more than £20 to have them fitted. you do not need a " qualified " person to fit them. it will be better if you have a room stat as well. a programable one is best so you can leave the timer on constant.0

Can I ask why "all but one"?
My combi boiler has a timer switch on it so the heating can be on constant if thats what I want. I would do it that way now as its meant to be cheaper to be kept on low than to warm a cold house each day. The boiling rads in the bathroom prevent me from doing that though cause I'm sure they're costing me a fortune.

if you have TVRs on all the rads, when the heating is on and all the rooms get hot, the TVS with close. the boiler will not know this and and will continue to pump water round the system. the water has no where to go and it could damage the pump. some boilers have there own bypass valve to avoid this so you can have TVRs on all the rads.0

I think the reason for not fitting a TVR to one rad is when you have a wall thermostat too, you aren't supposed to fit the valve to the rad in the same room as the wall thermostat as they would battle against each other.0

Just one comment to the above.
I don't think that the reason is because the water has "nowhere to go", there is still a circulation path; however without a room thermostat to switch off the pump it will run all the time heating is demanded by the programmer. Once the water reaches its set temperature, the boiler will shut off.
(however I am no plumber and stand to be corrected)0
