Bike stolen - I am not happy

Ask Aviva to explain fully in writing why your bike is not covered and specifically anywhere in the policy that they are relying on0

Right well I've had the letter and the cheque. I did call back and ask him to explain why my claim was rejected in the letter, but he appears not to have done so. Is it worth pushing this further? The complaints leaflet enclosed said if I wasn't happy I could contact the department concerned again (i.e. him) or the Chief Exec, followed by the Ombudsman...
Meanwhile I've filed a claim with my mother's home insurance company, but they're even more useless - apparently it takes them a week to find out if I'm even covered...0 -
Contact the person and ask them to write you a letter explaining why the bike is not covered and exactly what wording in the policy they are using to decline the claim. The person won't like composing such a letter and going to the trouble of finding the exact wording so it might make them pay the claim.
If that does not work send a letter of complaint, keep it concise and to the point, a timeline of events would be helpful0 -
Ok I'll do that. Thanks.0

Don't want to dampen your spirits but isn't accepting the £50 compensation losing your rights to take this matter further? I'm sure someone will be along to confirm this?0

I've had the letter setting out why I'm not covered and it directs me to the policy booklet which clearly contains an exclusion 'if you live in a self contained flat and the theft occured from a part of the building to which other people have access.' Or words to that effect. I just wondered if it says 'public' as it could be argued that the public have no access to any of it, but it says other people.
Should I just push the complaint further to annoy them into paying up?
