Moving number backwards and forwards!

Just got new iphone on vodaphone with a temp number. Want to keep my number from orange but when i phoned them they offered me a good sim only deal (£4.90 per month with 100 mins and 100 texts) which i want to pass on to my oh who only uses payg (also on orange). So i asked if i could have that deal on my oh sim (both in my name) but he said you can't transfer numbers with same network. He suggested i should move oh number to another payg, then move it back again to my sim card, then move my number to my vodaphone account! I have already recieved a free payg sim from t-mobile so now want to know how easy is going to be to do the following:
Get Pac from orange PAYG - give to t-mobile for free payg sim
Get pac from t-mobile from above - give to orange for new sim only plan
Get my current number at same time moved from orange to vodaphone

it seems really complicated but we both need to keep our numbers if possible as oh is business no.

Hoiw long do they take and is there a minimum time i need to use new t-mobile sim card for before i ask for pac. Can i give them pac, move number across, then ask for pac from them to move number back again on same day my number was activated?

Sorry, lots of qus. Hope someone has the answers.

It would fall down at the last step because porting your OH's number into your account would 'overwrite' your number. So you can't then port it to Vodafone (which would close the account anyway).

No, it can only be done week days and it's not instant. It take aup to 3 days to move a number.

As above, you can't port the number AND keep the acc open. Porting the number closes the acc, that's the way the network software is, there's no way around it.
