car insurance for Night workers
Comments

mt insurance company asked me where it is kept at night and for commuting purposes asked where it was kept during the day which was a secure car park at work, didn't affect the premium, but I suppose it depends on where you're work is or if it's secure or just parking on a side street etc.
They didn't ask. Of course they wanted the postcode and it is a quiet, low crime area, but didn't ask where it was specifically, only that it wasn't at my home address. I argued the point that it is no different to someone working during the day!!0 -
My Subaru was stolen from an.Ambulance station car park when i was on shift.0

I just had to query the details on an AA policy which hasn't even started yet and was told I would have to pay more because my second driver had been stated as not owning a car whereas he had. I checked the online quote and sure enough I had entered the details correctly. They still insisted I had not keyed in the details correctly but I stood my ground and they agreed to change my details free of charge because of "a fault in the system". It seems you're being penalised for being honest nowadays, is this why insurers claim insurance fraud has made them raise premiums?0

Do you always work nightshift? If you sometimes work days then I'd not tell them. The question is afaik about where the car is kept in a garage away from home.0

Isn't the question you have to answer on the application "where is the car usally kept overnight"??
That leaves the definition of "usually" to be argued.
For instance if you work rotating shifts nights may come up once every 3 to 5 weeks. Is your car usually parked at home??
5 weeks holiday a year during which time the car could reasonably be expected to be not parked at home??
Makes you wonder:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

I work four on four off, so half the month its at work and the other half at home, if you wanted to look at it that way. Its no more secure on my drive at home, than it is in the work car park, which is in a quiet residential area. My insurance ends in September, so I will be a little more shrewd I think. It only came up because I changed cars and when I took the policy out I wasn't working nights then. Just wondered what other night workers did to get round this, if at all.0 -

My guess is that most don't even think of informing their insurer, and those that do consider it choose not to.;)
Not going to advocate that as we all know the crap that falls if it all goes tits up.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Well, that's half the time its at home. Then take off annual leave, sick leave and any other absences, then it is bound to be more than half the time at home. Usually could easily be defined as more than half.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
sometimes the 'loading' is because they assume night workers are more likelly to be tired in the morning rush hour on their way home,or in the entertainment business,
years ago my insurance was loaded 100% because I was a croupier:mad:IMOJACAR

Croupiers were loaded for the "Moral Hazard" due to the Insurers (Outdated) views on casinos, there also was the view of the risk of an unhappy customer vandalising the car.0
