    Erm... never?! They do not demonstrate good lending by the banks. The risk is too high. Deposit is the only way now.

    I expect the first report from the banking review on monday to say that mortgages wont be allowed to be over 90% of the total value. This is what most people are saying will happen, and it will helped to stop lax lending from ever returning again.
    I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j

    What is the salary multiples for mortgages in the UK?

    Over here it is up to 5 or 6 x joint salary (for a joint mortgage obviously)

    I think 100% mortgage will return in some form in the next 18 or so months. Probably similar to the NR debacle 90% secured 10% unsecured loan.

    Personally i am not against 100% mortgages as long as the salary multiple is sensible like less than 3 x single, 2.5 x joint or something. I don't have an issue with ltv's more the lending of silly multiples to those with a track record that is more than a little wobbly.
