Its an image of whatever you took an image of at the time. Its exacting, you cant change it in any way

Ok, so the new hard drive is in and just getting towards the end of restoring my laptop to factory settings. I feel quite proud of myself.

Son's laptop is restored to factory settings, avast full scan has come back clear and malwarebytes full scan running, all clear so far.

Next I need to run the acronis true image restore on my laptop. As it's getting late and I don't want another 3am job, I think I will leave that until tomorrow - really hope I will not be reintroducing the malware but I guess I can always reformat even though I would lose all my files?
Thanks for giving me the confidence to go for it so far x

ps When it is up and running, I will run malwarebytes etc, hope it's ok to post that log here if you don't mind checking?

Just to keep you informed - the acronis true image backup did not launch automatically, looks fairly complicated to access and to be honest I think I want a fresh start rather than reload all of the random programmes which have been downloaded over the last 2-3 years. I have managed to retrieve a backup of all my photos, and I think there are ways of getting all of the itunes content from ipod back to computer. Everything else I can live without. I will miss spotify, but hopefully can get an invite code soon. I am going away for the weekend tomorrow morning, so it will probably be next week before I import files back to my laptop (don't want to risk messing up the ipod the day efore I go away!). Then I will re-scan. Thanks again for your help.

I think with spotify, you should have an account already. Just download it again and put in the username and password
