Staying in hotels for few nights - suggestions for evening meals?

I was going to suggest scouting out the local chippy and chinese/Indian/etc takeaways- sometimes its cheaper to share a couple of item, from a takeaway than try to put together a meal from a supermarket. (without cooking facilities I mean).
I cannot imagine though, that if you are visiting family you wont get fed! Its a point of honour here in south wales that visitors do not leave hungry!0 -
On River Cottage everyday, Hugh made homemade pot noodles. I've made them for work and their great. There's a recipe on his website.[STRIKE]December low - £3012 January low - £2589[/STRIKE]
February low -£2434
Loan -£1075
In 2011, I aim to grow £120 pounds worth of produce. (£0 so far)
I'm also aiming to cook 100 new things before I buy a new cookbook. (82/100)

Can only give general info since I don't know where you're going... as vegetarians, the food facilities get checked out pretty thoroughly beforehand so we aren't stranded.
If the hotel you're staying at doesn't have breakfast included, it's often possible to find a decent cafe nearby to get something filling at a very reasonable rate. (Me Mam's Kitchen in Liverpool for example)
If it does have breakfast included but you don't usually partake, it's worth changing habits for a few days because sometimes you don't need lunch and can have an early tea when there are more places open.
I tend to find in the places I've stayed at that hotels have tea and coffee making facitilies but not fridges, may be worth checking online.
What about the cheap meal deals in the :money:newsletter to the right of this thread, using points offers, seeing if there's a Wetherspoon's?
Then again, I bet the family will have a rota for who's going to feed you:D‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Thank you everybody, you've all been so helpful and have suggested some things I hadn't even considered. Thank you soooo much!
Yes, I'm sure family will be very happy to feed us but we don't want to put upon them (none are well-off) and there will be a few nights where we'll be spending time alone together.
You've all given me some 'food for thought' :rotfl: and I really appreciate you all for taking the time and effort to post your suggestions. I shall be reading all of them and making a list of things we will try. Thank you!Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10
