O2 legacy throttling?

Were on the standard O2 legacy package for our BB and have been for almost a year
Weve had horrendous problems with it, BT Openreach have been out to us 4 times, weve had a new router from O2 and have numerous months free yet we are still having problems
It would seem that we are being throttled in the evenings, during the day and in the morning the BB is fine (my Husband is currently out of work so uses its during the day) but between 6pm and 10pm the speed is almost non existent to the extent we cant even check our email..
O2 claim as we are on the legacy package we arent being throttled yet they also claim whenever we phone them up that they can see we are getting speeds of 6Mb - till I point out to them that if I was getting that speed I wouldnt be ringing them about it would I :rotfl::mad:
Other than changing ISP (and on our exchange the LLU choice is TT or BT or Sky - BT havent put infinity into our road yet) is there anything we can do or say to them to help sort it out?

Sky LLU is generally reckoned to be pretty good. Mind you O2 were until recently...0

Nothing you can do about Infinity other than register your interest.
If you're 12 months fixed term is up with O2 I'd move to Sky.0 -
If there is no O2/BE presence you would be placed on the BT Wholesale package (think it's called O2 Connect). It's entirely different to LLU.
From what I've read that has a fairly poor reputation for contention (you mention the evenings, which is the big clue) and poor speeds.
If however that is the cause, why O2 have booked BT to look at it four times so far is a mystery, since it's not a BT or line issue, it would be because there's simply not enough bandwidth to go around during the times when people want to use it. The call outs might indicate an O2 diagnosis of a line fault, e.g. a dropping IP profile caused by line instability.
If you wanted to try to get nearer a diagnosis of whether it is the line or the O2 service, you could try registering on one of the specialised broadband sites and post the statistics given by your router, which can help to see what is actually going on. For example www.ispreview.co.uk or www.thinkbroadband.com
Moving to Sky LLU seems to be the logical choice.0 -
If O2 are not LLU on your exchange, then you are not on the Standard legacy package, you're on O2 Access (non-LLU). Hence the horrendous contention issues which this service has always been notorious for.
You'll know which you are on, because 02 Access is vastly more expensive.
Nothing you can do but switch to Sky LLU.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
No we are definitely on the LLU package, we were on the access package at our old address - so i know how crap that was (though to be honest the speed at the old address was better most evenings than it is now on LLU) but we are now definitely on the standard LLU package (we are currently paying £5.11 - soon to be 7.11 - we got a £2.50/month discount for signing for a year)
I didnt put O2 as an option for LLU at our exchange as we are already on it - so wouldnt want to swap to it..
We are in contract with O2 till September - cant remember the exact date
My husband is considering Virgin cable but he is concerned at the upload speeds, he is a semi pro sports photographer and uploads a lot of photos to an online photo storage site..0
