New York in a Hurry

Hi,
My fiancee is from New York, so we do a fair bit of travel over there.
We usually buy flights from https://www.cheaptickets.com which is an american site, you can buy your tickets with a UK credit card, but pay in dollars, this usually comes out cheaper.
We flew Delta the other week from Manchester to JFK, this was <£300 direct return. However the best deal at the moment is with BA.com, it isnt much difference in price to buy from their UK site.
I stayed in the city the other week at a nice hotel near Times Square (32nd street) and we got a King Room for £260 for 2 nights. NYC is very expensive for hotels.... but you just gotta pay it i guess.... the hotel i stayed at was http://www.applecorehotels.com/red-roof-inn-manhattan/ the Red Roof Inn.
hope i helped... i can answer other travel to the USA questions if you have any.0 -
Just like to thank everyone for their replies on this. I finally booked the Air India Flight with Lastminute.com booking the Doubletree hotel (4 star) for a 3 night stay. This all cost £1300 so I'm well happy. Has anyone flown with Air India?0

someone posting on this board recommended it previously - sorry I cannot acknowledge them.0 -
Why don't you consider http://www.priceline.co.uk for your hotel? You may or may not of heard of it before, but you can get some cracking deals!
I regularly use them for hotels at LHR/LGW/JFK etc. For those not familiar with the concept, you enter an amount that you wish to pay for a hotel room, the search engine will then go to different hotels - if you’re lucky, and you’ll get one that'll accept your price.
Cheapest airport room I got was the Sheraton Skyline hotel at LHR; I believe it was around £30 + VAT. They have really nice beds too!
I also always find it easier to leave it till a few days before you travel.
The only downside of Priceline is that you won’t know which hotel you'll be staying in. However, you can specify the quality of the hotel before you search. Also, once you've confirmed the search - you can't cancel.
Hope this helps!

Edit: Forgot to say, enjoy NYC! It's a great place, I stayed at the Westin time Square....lovely hotel room! You have to try the "Dream" Shower and Bed, it's divine!0
