New York in a Hurry

I have been trying to book a 3 night break to New York for quite some time but for various reasons have been unable to do so.

Basically I need to leave at some point between Sunday 3rd Decemeber and Monday 4th December. It will be for 2 adults for 3 nights and need to stay somewhere central and relatively tidy. We can fly from Heathrow.

Budget - £1500 for flights and hotel

Any suggestions? I have tried all usual options (expedia, opodo, thomson, last minute, etc) - time is rapidly running out!

we found that hilton.com were far cheaper than other sites and travel agents.

just come back from the waldorf astoria at $299 per room per night! worked out less than £200 per night.

If you take the night flight back you will save a nights hotel accom.

Delta http://www.delta.com/home/index.jsp have flights Gatwick to JFK for about 225 pounds for lots of dates so might be worth a try. I've just stayed at at the Ramada Limited in Tonnelle Avenue, Jersey City http://www.ramada.com/Ramada/control/Booking/check_avail?brandCode=RA,MQ,DI,HJ,KG,SE,TL,BU&searchWithinMiles=25&areaType=1&destination=jersey%20city&stateName=New%20Jersey&state=NJ&countryName=United%20States&country=US&checkInDate=11/29&numberAdults=1&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=11/30&numberChildren=0&rateName=Best%20Avail&rate=000&id=14233&propBrandId=RA&force_nostay=false . It was much cheaper than staying in Manhattan but easy to travel in as it is one block (2 mins walk) away from the Path railway station at Journal Square which has cheap and frequent trains to the city centre. Really nice room on the top (5th) floor USD 106/night including breakfast. That was for one person but in a very nice double room.
  • Don't know if I am missing something but I couldn't find any of the reccomendations made on this thread. The asda travel site does come up with some good offers but not the Air India one specified. Does this mean it has expired?

I looked on Moneysupermarket.com and found a flight from Heathrow on 4th Dec, returning on 7th Dec at a total cost of £527.20 via ebookers.com

Or there is another via Icelandair, same dates which costs £500.80 for two adults.

    Hope this helps?
  • I have stayed at Radio City Appartments on 3 occasions (last time just 2 weeks ago) and can highly recommend them. Not fancy, but clean and very central. Subway and end of block. Times Square just a couple of blocks away. Available for dates you want at $370 for a twin room (think there may be a few dollars taxes to be added to that).

This is operated like a hotel, but there are no restaurants on the premises and there is a small kitchen area in your room.

    Hope this helps.

After typing this I have just reread your message and realised that you need 3 nights, above is only for 2 and it's not available for 3 (price for 3 nights for twin room would have been $550). Maybe worth giving them a call though.

  • Lastminute.com is showing AirIndia flights from Heathrow to JFK leaving 3rd Dec, returning 6th Dec (but arriving in London 7th Dec) for £297.60 pp.
  • icelandair flight is showing at £502.80 for 2 people. you go to cheapflights then you will see asda website it is on there.
  • air india is on their own website at £559 for 2 people 3-6 dec. the outbound leg on the 4th is there but the return leg on the 7th is booked.
