I need 6 M12 with a pitch 1.25, 35mm or 40mm long. I can buy a box of 100 for £51 but to buy 6 costs £14.25 plus delivery!
Can find lots of M12 bolts but not with 1.25 pitch necessary to fit a towbar to my Auris!

Are there any specialist fastener suppliers local to you? They might sell you 6 if they stock them anyway but they are unlikely to buy them in specially for you.

Alternatively are there any towbar fitters who would sell you the bolts?

    What about a Toyota dealer?

I bought some similar from a local hardward/tool shop.
You'll need to get the right grade, 10.9 on mine.

Thanks for super quick replies! I will have a look in town this PM, there are a couple of garages there who may help.
  • Ask some of the companies that sell Nuts and bolts on Ebay
Theyve always been able to help me out

M12 x 1.25 is standard metric fine but not exactly thick on the ground. If it screws into a nut rather than a threaded bit of the car or tow bar then the easiest way is to go for you metric course (1.75?) which every fixings house (and even screwfix) will have on the shelf.

Comes as an 8.8, not a 10.9 grade normally though.

You can hang a house off an M12 bolt, using 6 of them to attach a tow bar to a car I’d be surprised if anything better than 8.8 was needed. (but, as always, if that what the manufacturer says is needed then that’s what the OP should use)

I’m surprised they didn’t come with the tow bar

I'd get in touch with the towbar manufacturers and ask them to send you one out, or contact your Toyota dealership and ask them to order one in... as above, M12 x 1.25 pitch is NOT a usual thread.

Dependant on your skill level and the part involved you could drill and tap the current hole to take an M12 standard pitch bolt.( As long as you know what you're doing, that is)

Wurth are a major player in this market.

They have a handful of trade counters - might be one near you:

There seem to be plenty for sale on ebay or amazon.

If you get 10.9 bolts they wont be zinc plated as it weakens the bolt.
