E on over charging?
I've just got a bill for over £500 only live in a one bedroom flat I'm not sure if this is a mistake or they are really that expensive. I only payed £40 a month in my last flat when I was on a pre paid meter.

check reads are actual and not est how many months does the bill cover, is it e7 elec or unrestricted? Single elec tho you will probably find Bg cheaper if you pay by mdd if you pay by cash cheque or card you'll find eon track and save a cheap tariff0

Hi
It just says E.on energy plan and they're my readings I gave them yesterday. The bill covers 3 months.
I can't actually get to my meter because It's in a cupboard the caretaker has access to. I have hardly had my heating on the last few months plsu always make sure my appliances are off when not in use.
They always have trouble finding me on the system as well and they think I am the trent and dove building who own the block of flats. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? There's no way I've used that much electric though.

You need to check:
1) Gas meter serial number on bill matches actual meter serial number.
2) Both gas meter and bill say ft3 or m3.
3) Elec meter serial number on bill matches actual meter serial number.
Mismatches in any of these are an issue.
Are the consumption figure you list for that bill or what they say you have used over the last 12 months?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I've looked at the serial number and its the same on the bill. The bill says it's from feb to April.
I can't see anything on my bill that says FT3 or m30 -

To convert units to kwh to steps are:
1) multiply units by 2.83 this converts hundreds of cubic feet to cubic metres - this only applies to imperial (ft3) meters.
2) Multiply the result by a correction factor of 1.022640
3) Multiply the result by the calorific value shown on your bill.
4) Finally divide the result by 3.6 to give kWh.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Also check (it will say on the bill) if the previous readings were actual or estimates. If the readings 3 months ago were estimates, they would probably have been low considering how cold it was around December. If that is the case, you could be catching up with your usage over the previous billing period as well.

The bill should mention the readings being metric (M3) or imperial (ft3) possibly as part of the conversion from meter readings to kwh.

I think it's cubic meters?

My Last bill was pretty high as well.0 -
Your electricity is very high and that is what is costing you. Check that your actual reading is correct, especially the second digit. As the previous readings were estimates, you could have been behind for a long time assuming the current one is correct.

I've only lived here since last September and I was paying £40 a month on a pre-paid card then. I doubt I am behind.0
