Customer rights buying 2nd hand cars

Hi guys,

I've just recently purchased a 2nd hand car from a dealer. He advertised a 3month warranty along with the car, but when I asked him for the documentation he said he would email it all to me. It is nearly a week now and I still have not received any details. I have spoke to him via phone and he still says he will send it.
Do I have any rights as a consumer and as he has publicly advertised the vehicle with a warranty.
I know why he has not sent it as I px'd my vehicle and I removed the tax from it as there was no tax on the vehicle I was purchasing. He has rung to ask where the tax was as he reckons he gave me a £50 discount on the new vehicle as it had no tax!
I assume this is why he refuses to send the warranty documentation.

Any help in this issue would be grateful.

cheers,

R,

Despite having no written policy for the warranty, you are still protecting by the Sale Of Goods Act. The most relevant part is that the burden of proof of defects being present at the time of sale is on the seller, not the purchaser.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
