So sorry this has happened to you
I lost my first cat to saddle thrombus about 4 years ago. He was only 2. We had him pts and the guilt I felt at him suffering was awful. I wish we had let him go sooner. It was such a hard choice to make and we delayed it. I now know that recovery would have been a miracle. It's such a cruel condition and there was really nothing more you could have done.
Run free at the rainbow bridge little one (or where your mommy believes your whole and happy again).0 -
I am so very sorry that you are going through this..............I DO know how you feel, the same thing happened to my cat at the end of January.
My thoughts are with you. xXxNicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

I feel the two are connected0 -
OH went to the vets at lunchtime to say goodbye - he held him and kissed him. He was glad that he did it but I couldnt bring myself to go - I wanted to remember him as he was. My beautiful big ginger and white boy x0

Im so so sorry to hear of your loss its made me cry, I have been following your post hoping to hear some good news. One of my friends lost his cat to this last year and it was heartbreaking. I've lost 2 cats suddenly myself both to heart failure - one at 6 months old and one at 14 years old, it really is the most devastating thing to go through and nothing anyone can say can take away that heartbreak. All I can do is send you big hugs xxx0

you can only do what you feel is right but make sure you are sure about not seeing him. i felt the same when mine went (above) and my OH persuaded me to see her, yes it was painful and im crying now typing this but i think i needed it0 -

The panting is also a sympton of other diseases one of them being heart failure - the vet may also have suspected this as you say they put her on oxygen as this is also part of the treatment of that. It would have been very serious with potentially the same outcome. Unless your vet has all the right equipment (they never do as it's so expensive) so as ultrasound etc, they can't properly diagnose, in my opinion. When pets get ill they hide it untill they are really seriously ill.:(
Hugs.
thanks, i know. i just feel that at about 11 or maybe 12 it was not her time and shouldnt have been. she was diabetic for about 2.5 years previous to her death, it may have affected her ability to keep healthy. it was managed apart from when she became resistent to her insulin and we had to change it, so i suspect all that takes its toll0 -
It was right for me not to go as I said goodbye when I went to the vets on Thursday - when we both said goodbye then I knew that was the last time I would see him. I have been with my cats when they are pts and would have gone for that but to see him dead 12 hours or so after dead smelling of disenfectant is not how I needed to remember him.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and thoughts - this sick hollow feeling is a killer but I am all cried out (for today).0 -
This is just so sad and so real to me as I lost my lovely 15 year old cat yesterday to the same thing. Up until yesterday she had been fine and then suddenly was struck down. The vet advised pts as she was in so much distress. I have cried ever since and can't believe she's gone. My thoughts are with you at this awful time.0

So sorry for everyone on here who has lost beloved pets (myself included). Miracles do sometimes happen but other times our pets were not for this world at this time - I await the rainbow bridge for them - but live every day to the full with those I still have (and those I know I will still have in years to come) because my house would not be a home without these gorgeous and crazy creatures...x
It breaks my heart when people are too sad from losses to get another pet. There are so many out there that people like you (and me..) :ALess stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
My heart goes out to anyone who has ever lost their kitten cat to this condition - it is so quick, and prognosis is so poor - it has broken my heart nursing patients with this, and then losing them, so I cannot imagine how it must feel for your own kitty to be stricken with it.......... I would be inconsolable if it were my fluffy boy...
My thoughts are with you all - they'll be at rainbow bridge waiting for you xxxxI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
