Why is this thread suddenly turning into Piracy for Dummies?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

piracy for dummies - not sure about that - not my intention
All I am hoping for is a solution for a broken disk - I have a legally purchased copy - but cannot move it from one pc to another and am hoping someone may have a solution. If not then I will buy it again - its half price on AmazonJohn0 -

here's a no-brainer for you then.............how many alpha-numeric characters does your licence key have? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Hi Chuckles - There really is no licence key on it and it doesn't ask for one - my desktop had a drive problem about 4 weeks ago and I loaded the disk onto my very old pc kept for emergencies - I then bought a new laptop and was all set to load it on there and snappe the disk getting it out of the case!
It was bought from Tesco jersey and is genuine - but I was asking in case anyone could advise on how to move it from one PC to another without having the disk to install and then use a backup. I guess its best to go buy it again and keep my integrityJohn0 -
i dont have microsoft money so i cant be sure.
In microsoft word for example if you click Help>About Microsoft Word a window appears which contains amongst other things your product key
maybe this is the same for microsoft money?
if it is and you find it just dl money for somewhere and use your legit product key. This shouldnt be illegal as you pay microsoft for their licenses not the software0 -
Thanks for that suggestion Cookie - Never thought of looking there
However I won't be downloading from any file sharing sites - I think if its not possible to transfer from one pc to another I will go ahead and replace the disk - I don't want to risk being without it as a safety deviceJohn0 -
Money doesnt require a cd key like other microsoft programs it just installs.
Contact microsoft, they will ask for a copy of your recipt and the licence number gainable by going in to help and about on your old PC.
Your problems may be the version of money that you have, where did you buy it? if it was bundled with your pc it is an OEM licence and the licence is for use on that pc alone and cant be transfered to another PC/laptop. if you bought a retail copy then it can be transfered.
I have 2 MS office cd's pro 2000 and pr 2000 Service pack 1 both are cracked as the laptop drive wouldnt release the disks and they are kept in a cd wallet so it isnt good. I tried to get replacements but I cant find the recipts for them.0 -
Thanks Little John
I have the disk - it was bought from tesco Jersey early this year - 2005 version - it retails at £30 but Amazon are offering at half price so may just go for that for convenience! Thanks for reassuring me - I was certain I did not have to use a license key when i installed it.
Not sure if I will be able to locate the receipt but will have a scout round tonight among my emails
cheersJohn0
