do some shop staff go on courses in how to be rude?
i was in a card shop today looking for birthday wrapping paper and asked a young assistant. she snapped at me 'aint got none', i asked 'why dont people have birthdays in december?' and she replied as walking off 'obviously not'.
i was so flummoxed that i didnt even think of complianing!
anyone know if they are contactable via email?

No sign of an email or phone number on the internet other than their different shops - might be worth getting in touch with a shop and asking for the number for their head office?!Weight Loss - 102lb0

not very helpfull i know but the card factory do operate a "pay penuts and get monkeys" philosophy if we want great service then we all generally pay for a better quality of sales assistant.
if it is of any comfort she will probably not be there next time you go in they go through staff like no ones business
VickyThe glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D

i dont think i can be @rsed tbh. i should have complained there and then.
it is annoying though come crimbo that card shops tend to sell minimal, if any, birthday paper and cards. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Last time I was in there, I went through the whole till transaction with the assistant chatting to her friend on the phone. She never spoke one word to me!
I've never been back since.Here I go again on my own....0 -
i also thought they were cheap and being on a budget got the 'family' crimbo cards from there. it came to £13!!!!!!!!There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

I don't see the great problem here, yes the staff member was a bit cheeky but you made what could only be described as a "smart !!!" comment which was of no help whatsoever, were you expecting birthday paper to appear after you said that? Before you tell me that when they're working for a copmpany they should be polite etc you have to remember that they are people first and employees second and to think of shop staff as a means to an end and not a person is wrongBought, not Brought0

you are almost as bad as the shop staff.
how is asking if anyone has birthdays in december 'smart'? my daughter has. or is december only for the baby jesus' birthday?
moron. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
It wasn't "smart," it was smart followed by a synonym for donkey which the moneysavingexpert forum decided was an expletive. No-one was claiming people don't have birthdays in December and you made a cheeky remark to try and make the staff member feel stupid. Any complaint you should be making should be about the lack of birthday paper not the way the staff member was with you. First off all the staff member done was tell you they didn't have any, what more did you want? a chocolate watch for your troubles?
Teedy, yes, both should be treated with respect, but based on the OP i don't think it's the staff member that failed to show respect first.Bought, not Brought0 -
Well bamber it reads that she was rude first to me and sales assistants are there to help the customer. If you disapoint a customer with the lak of a product but handle it correctly then they will prob come back. An answer like the one given is rude and not at all providing any sort of assistance. Silly "insert synonym for donkey here"0
