The Bexley/ Dartford Heath side is quite nice.

Im looking into Crayford mainly because the trains run via the Bexley/Sidcup line compared to the Erith/Abbeywood lane which is a no go. I have checked the crime rates on police website and it seems pretty quiet so hopefully this could be an area where we could view some properties

I just don't think there's a lot there... don't rule out Eltham/New Eltham - nearer London and pretty much okay. Lived there for several years. Bought a car from Crayford once :D Nice that there's greenery, forest and towns nearby. Not somewhere I'd opt for, but then maybe not one I'd rule out entirely either if I decided to cast my net a bit wider than say Bexley, Bexleyheath, New Eltham, Barnehurst, Sidcup or similar areas.

What sort of things are you into? Young FTB into trendy bars, etc? Or someone looking for peace and quiet away from everything with maybe just a pub within walking distance? Hard to comment on Crayford or other areas without knowing a bit more about you...

Crayford is a bit rough - as are Dartford and Gravesend.

As an above post said - try Eltham/New Eltham/Bexleyheath way - much nicer.

Peace and quiet is good since we wouldnt be too far from the station anyway.
  • Hello,

I live in Bexleyheath and am moving to Welling. Both are very nice, and Welling train station is Zone 4, so a saving on ticket prices compared to Bexleyheath.
Both are very quiet, and the Broadway shopping centre in Bexleyheath actually has a great range of shops (including giant Asda, TK Maxx, M&S, H&M, WHSmith, plus a Poundland!) Cinema, bowling, etc, Crook Log leisure centre, large Danson Park...
Welling now has a giant Tesco and Morrison facing each other!

I work in North London and my commute takes approx 1.25 hrs.

Avoid the Plumstead/Woolwich/Thamesmead area if poss. I spent my childhood in Plumstead and it was rough.

Crayford/Dartford is also a bit greyer than Welling/Bexleyheath, shops are no where near as good by comparison.

Welling and Bexleyheath are slightly out of my budget of £150k though :(

RM CLICKY (Eltham) might be willing to drop, who knows...

What sort of thing are you looking for?
