Love the fireworks I watch them from my window lol
Yeah switch on day is always busy I'm not sure I'd take a small childMake £11,000 in 2011 challenge - £120/£11,0000 -
Thanks for the information about the lights switch on. There is a growing mass of opinion about it being a hectic evening (makes sense really) and I think we will spend our time enjoying other things instead. Thanks again0

PS - which end is the bispham end - tower or pleasure beach or further afield0

We went to St Chads headland to watch the switch on last year, there was a big screen there. There were quite a few people there but it was very calm, a nice atmosphere and lots of families. I would recommend that. The Bispham end is the north end, opposite end to the pleasure beach and well past the tower. It is nice up there but iirc there are to be fewer tableaux, some were damages in the storms last year and I don't think they're all going to be replaced.
The fireworks championships are great!0 -
- if you do viist the tower pick up a Top Trumps leaflet (should be in the Tower and Morrisons etc) get it stamped and visit two other of the listed attractions (lots of free ones) and get a nice free set of top trumps for the children
Thanks for spreading the word ginger dad! We now have a money saving offer for Blackpool Tower available when you show your Discovery Pass! Plus there's offers for lots more places throughout the North West. Enjoy! please go to our website0 -

if any of you are going any time soon then ill war you, theres alot of scaffolding and fencing up in blackpool, most of it though is on the seafront0 -
Whenever we go on holiday I always head for the Tourist Infrmation Centre. I have had some brilliant discounts for places by asking there first.0

Last year the illuminations were switched on by Robbie Williams because of the location you had to have a ticket to get into the enclosure and apparently it was chaotic. You had to be there a couple of hours early to get in, standing room only, no refreshments etc. Personally I wouldn't take a child into there.

It wasn't chaotic and you didn't have to be there hours earlier unless you wanted to be right at the front. Neither was it packed or crushed. We went out twice to get food and drinks and had no problems getting back in again. The most organised and well planned switch-on that I have been to yet. There was plenty of children in there, but I would take a pushchair as little legs get tired.
Traffic is still a bit of a nightmare at the moment, so don't rely on SatNav. The new Tussauds just opened, but the Nickelodeon Land at Pleasure Beach is still under construction till July. Zoo tickets are cheaper bought online.0
