Free Flybe flights -good feedback

I was sent a voucher for two fee flights with Flybe following my application for their creidt card [MSE tip]. The tales of folk having to hang on the phone for ever put me off redeeming it, so I was pleased to get an email from them offering to transfer it to 'Rewards for All' so that flights could be booked online. But this didn't seem to enable me to book two tickets, and so I emailed them to clarify. Just got the following reply back:

'Thank you for your email. I have added 48 points which you can use to book available Rewards4all flights online through your Rewards4all account.'

Avoiding the hassle of sending the voucher back as well. Appreciate that there are downsides [spain, croatia and portugal are excluded, taxes etc still payable, limited availability] but IMHO still an excellent moneysaving wheeze and they also seem to have listened to customer feedback.

  • Thanks for sharing (more often that not, enquiries here relate to negative experiences of companies). I've also applied for the FlyBe credit card and made my first purchase. That's great if they plan to administer the free flights via Flybe Rewards4All points, because I'm looking to use the voucher with 16 of my existing points earned through flying FlyBe to get a summer break together.

The time for praise and good feedback will be appropriate when you have had your "Free Flights" which will not in any way be "Free".
    I wont hold my breath.

Well no -they won't be free of all charge. But we all knew that didn't we? Taxes etc remain payable. Bottle half empty, bottle half full...

It's the final price that matters, there are plenty of £5.99 flights but when you add higher than usual taxes these "free" flights often work out more expensive for less choice than others............Anybody want to buy one of my hoovers!

  • As a little hint, I've found that domestic UK flights can work out more expensive with Rewards4All points than with cash - the taxes and charges do seem to be a little bit "flexible".

    For example:

However, if you're based in Scotland, you might be interested to note that this doesn't seem to be the case with franchise routes operated by Loganair, which (perhaps because of the small regional airports and essential-air-service pricing) work out much cheaper with Rewards4All points than cash. Fingers crossed we'll be using some of our saved points for a trip north to one of the islands later this summer.
