Thurs 7th April 2011 - What small DFW things have you done today?

Erme
Posts: 3,597 Forumite

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Hope I've done this right...first time starting small things thread on the whoopsie mac
So today's agenda (yes I was doing the ironing at some late hour last night ...someone call 911 LOL...LOVE my old ironing board gotten from the thrift sale the other month for £5....brilliant...Best ironing board I've had all year
)
AM
* Menu plan if not already done
* Food shop (well get coffee & squash)
PM
* Card make and write to sheena & TD
* Typing Tutor
* Read up on Eager learners
* Ironing
EVE
* Find a pattern for a tank top and start
* Mr M @ 8 or so for the bargains
Blessings

I'm early this morning - thanks Erme, for starting us off!
Bit of a shock this morning, as our current account was overdrawnOH's salary has not been paid in (it should have been), but a couple of payments have come out and tipped us into the red - have moved a bit of money over to cover it, and have fingers firmly crossed that the salary appears later. Seeing that minus figure was not at all nice.
My list for today:- checked banking

I think (like everything last year) at least 3 ...mostly from charity shops etc...One paid full price.. ...I know it's shocking :eek: and I don't even iron that often. One iron (nope make that two :eek:) for ironing. The other is for crafts and bad stuff which I need a lighter iron for (was only about £3.50)...My main iron (the heavy one) was about £10 and works fine (Just a Mr JL basics range....does me fine)
So yeah inspired by Lucy's thread (seriously I must have been reading that thread for a good two hours this am from like 4-6am and am now paying for getting up so early.....Erme is a zombie and it's not yet 9am :roftl:) I'm going to have another bash at quitting the weed. Hoping to get strong patches and a little puffer cos I'm a really heavy smoker. Pray it goes well with smoking cessation worker @ 3.30pm...will keep you all posted...
the thing is I had a little time on the nasal spray (it's awful stuff but works) on my break in Inverness the other week - it was just for a few hours at a time but by the end of that I was craving nicotine and not cigs...so I know it can be donebut like the last time I tried proper (on e-cig and spray) I had a nicotine overdose which ended in as much bother as if I'd not had enough nicotine so I don't want a repeat of that
...so yeah...D day will be Sabbath if I get the NRT....if not maybe soon...
Blessings
