My music using habits have changed over time. I have a lot of vinyl - over 1000 albums still and probably the best part of 10,000 singles; a few 100 cassettes (bought for the car); a few hundred CDs (almost all albums) and an MP3 player with not very much on it. But Spotify (got in early while still free) is a revellation and I spend hours on their listening to random bits of my playlist.
I also love that I can access stuff that I'd never get into my collection otherwise, its just too hard to get hold of.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Mostly listen to trance music (A State of Trance radio show is excellent and downloaded most weeks) and industrial, likes of Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM.
Nothing better than electronic music to get you in the mood for revising, exercise, anything really. Brings out the competitive spirit in me.
And yeah, all MP3's. Paying record companies £11 for a piece of plastic can shove right off. Download the song and donate to your favourite artist if you feel that way inclined.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

And does know one else worry about the sound quality with mp3? I still see analog vinyl as lossless and even a 700mb cd is just a sample so I can't see how n mp3 can be anything but worse than a cd.
I also see having a physical cd as being a 'backup' - tho I guess if you don't pay for your mp3s then it doesn't matter if your hard drive dies and you lose them all.I think....0 -

If you are worried about MP3's being lossy over CD, it is possible to find FLAC (lossless) copies of music online. Or rip FLAC yourself - most standalone MP3 players support flac files nowadays, albeit with decreased battery life.
FLAC files can be quite large though, I remember ~400mb an album. Not bad on modern internet connections though.
On vinyl being better than CD - I have a few albums that have been ripped directly from vinyl (fresh out of the packet on a laser turntable). Beautiful sound quality due to the "Loudness Wars" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war
I wouldn't be too sure about the sampling making much difference on CD's though. It's mostly down to bad mastering as above.
With MP3's on the go though, it's all a bit of a wash. Not much point having top notch quality when you're sat on the bus drowning out the noise of the preggo 14 year olds talking about X factor.
I do cringe when people use laptop speakers and 96k MP3's though. My ears hurt.
On the physical front, that's why I don't buy MP3's. I much prefer to have a physical product, if I'm parting with money. I'd never buy an ebook for the same reasons. I'm a mathematician, I play with numbers all day, no way am I paying for one.
I find it strange people will pay £8 for a digital album when you can often get the CD for the same price. Though I guess most new albums don't even have the bloody lyrics book nowadays.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

1. Type / Highlight the word you want to be a linkvivatifosi wrote: »I still don't know how to do the links with the name rather than the full URL after all these years
2. Press the insert link symbol (world with a paperclip)
3. Paste the URL link
4. press ok
In other MS applications you can just press CTRL-K, paste the link and adjust the test to show
P.S. the post didn;t take 2 hours to complete, it;s a copy and paste from wikipedia which copies across the links as well
