I am a newbie here. I have read Martin's site for some time now but have not posted before. Anyway, I received a letter from a firrm called Telogram asking me to ring a number to retrieve a message they had for me. I ignored it having read on the internet that it was a scam. Soon after I received a letter from a firm of solicitors asking me to contact Telogram to 'establish whether the information they hold is relevant to yourself and we will then be able to bring this matter to a conclusion'. These solicitors actually have the word 'collections' in their title. I do not owe anyone anything, neither does anyone living at the same address as me. Nor do any of my relatives, I have no children. What shall I do? I suppose it could refer to the previous occupants of the house. I am a bit worried and any advice would be gratefully received.

Was the letter addressed to you ?

Yes, it had my correct name including the middle initial.

The general advice from the other thread appears to be that you should ignore it and let them write to you expressing the matter.

Hello Magyar, I read the previous thread but most of the posters seemed to admit that they had at sometime a debt. I don't. I will ignore the letters as you suggest, thanks for the help.

Yeah, I read some other stuff on other sites which suggested they use quite a scattergun approach and even try to persuade some people they have debts they were never responsible for!

Hopefully it will just go away - if someone has a point they should just make it in a letter.
