garage shouldnt have bolted it together without checking if the head is warped and at very least skimmed it to make sure. a headset would of had the rocker cover seal in the pack.

please dont tell me they re-used the old timing belt, tensioners and water pump too!?

Dig out the reciepts from the rebuild, all of them.

You should have a break-down of what was replaced ad what was done, if a thing was sent away to be checked or skimmed etc.

Worse case, they're gonna try and charge you same sort of price.

    Thanks.

I've also had my head gasket replaced in November but my car has been leaking oil since. just a small amount every time i turn off the ignition. I've had the rocker cover gasket replaced and it is still leaking. Could the rocker cover housing be warped? If so, how much will this cost?

    Thanks

leaking oil since HG done where from??? just residue? surely if its fresh oil and been this long its a leak!

they say the head maybe warped! ask yoursef this how does a head on a car warp if it was bolted down correctly and was skimmed and sealed up. only over heating engine can warp it or incorrectly bolted down to wrong spec and sequence or reusing old streched headbolts.

leaking oil since maybe because they didnt use a headset and distrubed nearly every seal there is on the head hence a leaky rocker or cam seal.

water could be coming from the water pump, thermostat housing, head itself.

im pretty confident that they just done the HG maybe the bolts and thats it.

a timing belt streches and wears over time reusing that is a ticking time bomb for it to go and destroy the engine alltogether or the water pump to fail and back to square one. not putting new seals in is asking for leaks.

HG's are usually done like this.

    headskim and pressure test

headset - cam seals, valve stem seals, thermostat seal, rocker gasket, water pump gasket, inlet manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, throttle body geasket, head gasket.

    headbolts

    oil

    oil filter

    oil flush (if mayo'd up)

    water

    antifreeze

    timing kit- timing belt, tensioners.

    water pump.

thats how many would do a HG. and why it costs so much to do even on small engines.

they may not have done most above wich is poor in my mind.

    I remember the A series

    headgasket

    manifold gasket

    rocker cover gasket

if you were generous, re-grind the valves, and new valve stem seals, maybe a skim.

    oil, filter, antifreeze.

    adjust the tappets.

    go in for lunch.
