iPhone insurance claim - value?

My lovely 2 yr old son decided to dunk my iPhone in his cup of water at the weekend thus rendering it useless. Clearly my bag zipped up and hanging in the hall was not out of his reach!

I've already tried the usual tricks of placing it in rice for a few days, cold blast from the hairdryer ect to no avail. It's covered in the house insurance although with a £100 excess (last time I leave this job to the OH) so I won't get a replacement handset. They have asked me to got Vodaphone to confirm the phone was mine and it's value at the time of purchase 14 months ago so I wonder if anyone could help and advise as to what it's value could be? If it's not much then I won't bother claiming.

Its an iPhone 3G 8gb, purchased 14 months ago.

Thanks in advance:beer:

    Hi,

Mine was covered on on my household insurance with £100 excess, and was an 8GB 3G. It was about 21 months old when I lost it, and was passed onto me by my wife. I couldn't provide Tesco with the receipts, but I provided them with printouts from iTunes showing the phones IMEI and serial number, a website which showed the IMEI was registered to an iPhone 3G 8GB, and a print out of my account with O2 detailing that I was using an iPhone.

I was told by Tesco agents that they couldn't replace it with an iPhone 3G as they were no longer made, so they quoted £397 for a replacement iPhone 8GB 3GS (the faster version). So I wound up with a cheque for £297.

Will probably have to go this route, Vodaphone have no record of my order - the one I placed on their website via my accounts as an upgrade :mad::mad:

    Hi emma-uk

I can certainly sympathise with your situation, having had my phone dropped in liquid a while back, and it didn’t react very well to blackcurrent.

BRSurvivor’s suggestion will most definitely help with your claim. However, we’ll most certainly be able to help providing you with evidence that your phone was provided by Vodafone, and was being used on our network.

If you’d like to e-mail us via the Contact Us page on our website, using WRT135 as the subject, and we’ll help to provide you with as much information as we can.

    Many Thanks
