I have a debt with paypal that I set up a payment plan with them for 80 a month. I've been paying it without fail then today I come home to a letter from Iqor debt collectors saying they've been instructed by paypal to collect the debt. How can this be? What should I do?

It's not a punishment, it's just thier office proceedure. Every so often (they will have thier own schedual, but shall we say quarterly for arguments sakes, or annually maybe) they will pass all the outstanding accounts that they are collecting to a DCA (debt collection agency) because on the whole it is simpler for a business to do that.

Iqor aren't a DCA name I recognise, so if you are suspicious of a scam give Paypal a ring and just ask them if they have passed to Iqor. Assuming they are a normal DCA though (DCA's rechristen themselves a lot) they want an easy life same as you do. Simply set up a standing order or other safe method of payment to Iqor for what you were paying before to Paypal. Remember to cancel if you were paying Paypal by Direct Debit. More seriously, you'd be better dealing with PayPal than their performing monkeys at Iqor who, both here and at CAG, are generally reckoned to be some of the nastiest idiots ever to have been given a Consumers' Credit Licence. Their domain details are:

It may not astonish you to learn that that do not appear to have a UK website but, on looking round their American and global site, it appears that their General Manager for the UK is one John Ricketts.

Their Code of Conduct looks good - it does seem a pity that it seems rarely to have been followed.

From another posting on here, it seems the telephone number for their "field collection department" may be 01772 832030.

Iqor are muppets, I was chased for a £14 ebay debt years ago and ended up speaking to the nastiesest !!!!! ever. I did actually pay ebay direct,I would of paid her but I was out and didnt have a card with me. In hindsight it was a perfect example of why not to speak to dca's.

Thanks for the replies guys! I called Paypal to ask what was going on, and they said they had sent my debt to Iqor in error. They've recalled the case & to make sure, I've been copied in on all correspondance so I have it in writing now that Iqor haven't got authorisation to come for that debt. I looked & saw they didn't have the nicest of reputations so I'm glad I sorted it today.

legal & trade went bust under the name of LEGAL & TRADE FINANCIAL SERVICES LIMITED a few years back, a few of their directors also left and setup another firm think in crewe and CSL in london

Please keep in touch and tell us what happened when the coprolalic clods at Iqor tried to press for payment or refused to believe you when you told them that PayPal had recalled the case.

Alternatively, you could have some fun with those microcephalic morons; if you can record the call, please post it on YouTube.
