Legal and Trade

During a hugely bad time, I defaulted on a loan and it was put into Legal and Trade's hands. I need to dig back through all the paperwork more thoroughly, but my debt was repaid to the Company (I took out a consolidation loan). However, Legal and Trade continued to send a collector round, and I kept paying an amount monthly even after I'd settled the debt. Suddenly, the collector stopped calling. When I came out of my financial fog recently, I realised I'd been paying money unnecessarily to Legal and Trade.

My question is - how do I get all the details of what I paid them, as I know I have a case to claim that money back. Am I entitled to that information under the Data Protection Act, and would I be advised to get legal advice to get my money back?

Many thanks
Pam

PS I know it probably sounds ridiculous that I should pay a debt collector when I knew the debt had been paid off, but I was so ill with stress at the time (I had Natwest piling on bank charges at the time) I just gave up and paid out. I was too ill to even think straight.

i used to worked for Legal & Trade (useless !!!!!!s) so what you need to do is ring their field collection department on 01772 832030 and say that you want details of all payments you have made them. or alternatively you can write a letter to them at Legal & Trade collections, 33/34 Winckley Square, Preston, PR1 3EL. thirdly you send an e-mail to Chris.Bentley@ltfs.co.uk. All these could help you out. just be aware that the department that uses the telephone number is open 8-5.
