I went to Prestatyn last weekend. I saw the post on another forum and rang up.
We were put in a budget which I have to say was pretty grotty. The kitchen was clean, toilet so so, but the floor, I dont think had been mopped for months. (They're not carpeted) We had to throw our socks away they were that filthy!

You have to pay for electric, but we were very careful. I never boil more water in my kettle than I need anyway. kettles eat leccy and why boil water and spend money you dont need? No shower, only a bath, so we didnt heat any water, and got a nice hot shower every day in the swimming pool after a swim. Cooked 2 meals there and had sarnies for lunch. There is an Asda in Rhyl and a Tesco in Flint for picking up groceries much cheaper than on site. (Even cheaper if you use coupons wink wink. I got shut of loads of mine on the way there and back

It was good for the kids, plenty to do; lots of activitites. They won a medal each, and then we won the family quiz so they got another medal each. Then husband I won the darts comps so we won a medal each, twenty ponds vouchers each and a free weekend in november each for the darts final. Only in budget though, and it';d be freezing then, so I managed to wangle one club apartment instead of 2 budget ones.

So will have to practise my darts for the final now!

    Hi DiscoDee

We also went to Prestatyn last weekend. We stayed in a club apartment, paid £65 for the 3 nights and it sleeps 6. I was surprised at how clean it was! The kitchen was well stocked, we got towels, bed linen and free electric.

If you go again, try and get in the club apartments :-)

We also went to Asda in Rhyl to stock up!!

We didn't really go to any of the Pontins activities though, sounds like they were worth it. The only thing we went to see was Barney on Sunday!

    Hi Lisa
If you see my post above, we've got a club for November cos we both won the darts!
The activities were good. The kids had loads of free games of air hockey, both won 2 medals each and we won the family quiz.
We did loads of swimming too, kids are great swimmers and loved swimming in that 10 foot part! Took our golf clubs, tennis racquets and cricket set and played lots of that. Went to Rhyl for the afternoon too. Our kids love being active and doing comps. We went to do the PGL challenge too, but were the only family to turn up!! Could have won another weekend holiday there too but they said they needed 2 more familes to run it! Poo!
Did they take your coupons in ASda? I did a leadhead and went to 3 different tills when the first two refused LMAO
When i rang I was told only budget were left but if it's free, it's free isn't it? We'd have had to pay to upgrade to a club, and this was just a break. We'd already been to Austria Amsterdam and a free haven holiday this yr, and still have Portaventura and another haven hol in Blackpool later on, so I wasn't paying anything for it lol

Hopefully the club one in November will be clean. I've been told they are!

Anybody going to Hemsby next week, hope the weather is OK

We have just come back from havens caister site which is just down the road from hemsby. We drove through it yesterday and past pontins.. it was lovely and sunny yesterday but we had three days of on and off rain and lightning etc... didnt spoil anything though but did mean we had to go out with a brolley at all times, lol..

I found a good 10 day weather forecast site for the area but have just deleted it from my favourites and now cant find it... will keep looking.

Very surprised that there was an orange county choppers shop (the motorbike tv programme) just down the road from the pontins site in hemsby..right in the middle of gift shops and cafes but we didnt have time to stop and look in.

Just got back from 4 days at Brean Sands, the accomodation was spotless and the camp was fine , I must admit I took my own towels and pillows and quilts although the ones provided were clean and plentiful.. we didn't shop in the camp shop as it was expensive but did a swift shop at Somerfield in Burnham and there was a Tesco at Edithmead just outside Burnham... the beaches are beautiful but because of the wind we didn't spend much time there... I would really recommend The Porthole restaurant on the front at Burnham it was clean with lovely service and food at a reasonable price...all in all an excellent break for just £60 thanks everyone for posting this... hope I catch the next one...

Anybody recomend a good chinese takeaway at Hemsby, IIRC there is one near the beach and one near Pontins itself in the village.
