Words jumbled or with missing letters

Options
I have a year old PC with Win 7 . When I type anything, in Mozilla , Word, wherever, the words are jumbled or have missing letters. I'm not a whizzy fast typist and was putting this down to arthritis, but my daughter has the same problem. Eg manic can come out as man, mcnia. Virus scans / malware scans come up clear.
I have had the problem about 6 weeks. It's a real nuisance as it slows me down, passwords are a nightmare and playing online scrabble interesting. I don't have the problem at work. I've looked at keyboard settings but don't understand how they could help.

When you say PC, do you mean desktop or laptop?
If desktop, have you tried unplugging then replugging in the keyboard

if it's a laptop, have you changed your typing position/location?

you could be inadvertently brushing the touchpad with the heels of your hands as you type, which will produce the kind of error you describe

If you have ruled out the above try reinstalling the keyboard driver.

Have you tried re-syncing it? The wireless receiver will have a button on it. Press the button and then press the button on the keyboard (usually on the bottom that says connect).

Are you sure the keyboard hasn't been fiddled with? Check that the keys are all in the right order first!

Should look something like this: http://www.computerhope.com/help/qwerty.gif

If not... check the language settings.

Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region > Keyboards & Languages > Change Keyboards > Default Input Language

If it's not set to the UK already reset it.

Failing that... then check the drivers.

Sorry. I should have said Cordless not Wireless. Tried reinstalling driver from original disc. Got a message saying it had detected a newer version installed on machine and would stop. Logitech site doesn't seem to recognise 'Internet 1500 Laser Cordless desktop M/N YRAS79.

OK just to clear this up, it happens in every application, sounds like it does.

Now is it consistent or variable or intermittent?

For example if you type 'money', does it consistently come out the same ? ie always say, mnoy? ie does it vary every time you type it?

Also do you have another keyboard you can test it with?

    Are the batteries OK?

Presumably you can correct the errors so it sounds like something intermittent, possibly interference on the wireless bit?

Also possibly dirt/water in the keyboard.

It's consistent in that there are always errors- the errors are not always the same. Eg I typed 1 sentence 3 times ad here are 3 words from it..
    consistent - sstent, consistt consett
    turning - turinga, turin, turg
    money - mney, myne, ney

Can't find a spare keyboard- should have one somewhere.

    Batteries OK

    Checked language settings - OK

    Thanks for your help

I can't find my last reply -perhaps it didn't get through. I did try the alphabet printing and found it all worked except that keys in the middle row took about 10 secs a line, as opposed to 5 secs for top and bottom rows.

    I think I'll get a new keyboard - thanks for everyone's input.
