Using Pale Moon, if you type imdb in the address bar it loads google search, if you type imdb in the Firefox address bar it goes to imdb.com so one area where it is potentially slower

Same reason I do not use IE as that always went via Bing

    That's really weird.

If I type imdb into the Firefox address bar it defaults to Google search.
That's what I want it to do.:)

Fair enough but I prefer the browser to go direct if possible

Thank OP for putting this on. My ff has run slow for ages and I though a lot of it was my old laptop. It wasnt even keeping up with my typing speed. So thanks to everyone else for your replies, I have disabled all the add ons I had.. there was a few Java ones, I have left one on, do I need it? I also got rid of Microsoft.NET framework assistant.. did I need that? Thanks all x

True but when you use the address bar using part of an address it reverts to Bing

it uses whatever you have set as the default search provider, when doing a search from the address bar

ive just set google as the default in ie9, & it sent the search term to google
    www.google.co.uk/search?q=play&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7DKUK&redir_esc=&ei=PvWcTZeKKciT4Abj7OzPCg

it can even have 'google suggestions'

though google identifies ie9 as ie7, hmmm

I've a slightly different problem once I installed No Script, in that, whenever I go on the John Lewis website and try and log into my account details, it shows the secure page padlock which has a red exclamation mark, which on clicking says: Connection Partially Encrypted, parts of the page you are viewing were not encrypted before viewing over the internet. Information sent over the internet without this encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit.

This only occurs when going into my account but not if I go through the purchasing process. Any ideas as it doesn't occur on the Amazon website etc. This happens under Linux and Windows. Thanks for any replies in advance.
