Hi , I have contacted Paypal about this matter but their response was very basic and didnt really answer the question so im hoping maybe someone on here can offer advice.
My Dad made a purchase from a website (not ebay , just a website) and the payment method used was paypal.
On receiving the item he had purchased it was discovered that the item wasnt as described (it was a laptop battery which didnt fit his laptop) and also it transpired that the battery had been sent from china!
Dad showed me the website and I have to agree that this fact is not clear at the point of sale...
Anyhow , we opened a paypal dispute , no response from the seller and so we escalated it to a paypal claim.
Paypal emailed to say that Dad would get a refund but that first he had to send the battery back by a trackable method and upload a copy of the front and back of his receipt from Royal Mail.
the cost to return the battery was £10.60.
The problem we have now is that when we checked the tracking online it states that the delivery was attempted twice and the seller was unavailable and so a card was left.
It then updated to say that if the item was not collected by the seller it would be returned to the UK...
Would this affect the paypal refund? Would my Dad still be entitled to a refund? At what point will paypal close the case an issue a decision?
Any advice or opinions welcome. Thanks

If delivery has been attempted, that should be enough to close the case in your dad's favour. Might be worth an email to Paypal to point out that the tracking has been updated.Team Pink! Baby girl due 25/5/140

AS above, all a buyer has to do with a returned item is prove it got back even if seller refuses to accept it. Phone paypal and be persistent and you will get the refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi and thanks to both of you for your replies.
I will give paypal a call tomorrow on behalf of my dad and update this thread to let you know the outcome.
Thanks againThe loopy one has gone :j0 -
hiya, i agree with the above. If tracking confirms it has been sent and delivery has been attempted then it is not your fault the seller is not accepting the package/missed delivery (who knows) lol.
i think paypal will decide in your favour,0 -

I really hope you are right as I dont want my Dad to lose this money . I havent phoned paypal yet as my landlines not working today and it would cost too much to call on my mobile..
Im going to my Dads later so will call from there.
I notice that it says on paypal that the case is being reviewed by paypal and they will get in touch before 11th April if they need any more info. Im wondering if we did nothing would the case just close in favour of my Dad on 11th?
Thanks for all the advice offered. The loopy one has gone :j0
