many thanks for all the replies guys.
The thing I couldnt understand is that its only 2 A4 pages I sent in a small envelope. I did put 1st class stamp.
Did the price of the stamps/any regulations changed around 2nd wk of feb??0 -
well whats your answer to light items that are large?
eg an inflated balloon in a large box, weighing very little
An inflated ballon won't go in a envelope.
Parcel2go website is probably a good example to look at. The one rate handles lots of sizes and weights. Royal mail break it down way to far imo.0 -

you cant compare a courier to RM

the pricing changed over 5 years ago
you folded the papers over, the item was too thick and became a large letter
difference bettween a 1st class stamp and 2nd class large letter is 10p
plus £1 charge0 -

It must cost more in administration.
There are queues at my post office where people are getting letters weighed and measured because they have no idea what value of stamps are needed. The woman being the counter pushing the envelops though a plastic measuring device to see how thick they are to calculate the cost!0 -

yes parcel2go deliver to the whole uk
Your missing my point - I am refering to a rate fitting lots of sizes and weights. Simplified. RM breaks it down too much imo and has too many prices.0 -

maybe they should charge more for the post office use if people are incapable of a simple calculation?
what is your answer then?
charging by weight doesnt cover the true cost of many items,so whats your system?0 -

the deliver to the whole of the UK,do they charge the same amount?
so you would be happy if RM charged a flat £5 fee up to say 20KG for all items?0 -

### No not the same amount, read the p2g website. Are you being thick on purpose.

### Not that Amount vs Weight, but yes in principal that is exactly what im saying. Flat fees. You final got it.0 -

no need for insults is there? they dont deliver to the whole of the UK for the same price.
RM are required to by law,yet you want to compare prices
so how does this flat fee work then?
how are you calculating the costs if £5 per item is too high?
how would that work for downstream access mail?0
