Can I claim fuel cost from tax man

Bit of a long question but here goes.
I'm employed and have to commute to work each week by car I travel 220 miles on Sunday then 40 miles to work 40 miles back for 5 days then travel back 220 miles on Friday. Now I use a company car but I have been paying the fuel cost this cost is about 15% of my wages and I just can't afford it anymore. Can I claim anything grin tax man or my employer.
Any help would be great.

Where does your contract say you are based?0

I've got a funny feeling its wherever they travel to on Mon-Fri. The taxman isn't responsible for re-imbursing you taking a job 220 miles from home...0

My contract is at my home address basically I use to get company to pay for fuel on top of my wages but buisness has been sold and now new owners refuse to re-inburse me.0

If not self employed, don't think you can claim on tax. Between you and your boss really.0

You might be able to claim tax relief on the amount you spend on fuel but you'd have to confirm this with a tax expert though.0

I am assuming that you are in digs during the week since you have an 80 mile round trip each day. Why are they so far away from where you work?
I don't think that you will be able to claim as it looks as though you have a permanent place of work and therefore travel to and from work is not claimable. It sounds as though the new owners are interpreting the rules correctlyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
