    while it wasnt for a honeymoon we stayed at the rui playacar for 3 weeks in jan ( weather was crap :D ) which is on the playacar complex and it was fab rooms arent great but ok
    rui Tequilla is not on the beach though you have to go to the other hotels to get to the beach and i think i did see a section of the beach that is for the rui tequilla and lupita but its not a issue

    its only the rui playacar yucatan and the rui palace that are beach front if you staying within the rui hotel complex
    i think you can use all the facilities of all the sister hotels apart from the palace,
    but if you in the rui palace then you can use everthing

    yuctan is larger and noiser ( lots of families and kids) yucatan is smaller and more laid back and the Rui Palace is grand and opulent and the tequilla and the lupita are the other side of the golf course one of them has a nightclub the other has a big sports bar
    its a great complex with lots of hotels condos and a few resturant and a golf club then you can walk 20 mins or so to the playdel carmen area or a taxi for 3 pounds

    also there are some nice hotels on the riveria maya like the bahia pricipe which is up by tulum ( stayed there several years ago and it was fab 4 hotels in one complex very very big but lovely )

    September and October are the most rainy and peak months for hurricanes (hurricane season runs June-Oct) I've been in August and the rain didn't spoil things but you might be better waiting to November.

    Last year we stayed at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Riviera Maya which is only 4/5 miles from Cancun,the only UK tour operator who goes to this hotel is First Choice.It was our Silver Wedding and they made sure it would not be forgotten,go on Trip Advisor and look at the pictures this place is pure Class,Fillet steak and Lobster always available,Hennesy XO,Remy VSOP and every top shelf drink you could ever want,you might have to tweek the budget slightly but it is well worth it,we have been to the majority of hotels being mentioned to you but this place is a step above them all.The hotel is adults only it might now be called Grand Paraiso.

    We honeymooned in Cancun 20 years ago in Sept 1991.Great weather but goodness knows what its like there now.We stayed in a cheaper downtown hotel but spent a lot on eating out and excursions and got a shock when we got our credit card bill when we got home!But as it was our honeymoon we werent taking notice of what we were spending!

    We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres for my husband's 40th birthday and was the most spectacular holiday ever - just gorgeous. Only problem is that it's not on the main stretch so is more out of the way. I've also been watching Le Blanc for a while - haven't been there but looks lovely.

    We did actually go to Moon Palace for our honeymoon (albeit 11 years ago) and had a great time but Excellence is in a different class

    I stayed at Cancun 6 years ago, it is amazing. If you go go on the power boats which you can buy from the travel people outside most hotels (always cheaper than booking with your tour company), xcaret and xel-ha, swimming with dolphins is about 120 pounds I think it was, theres a free seal show in the main shopping area, chichen itza is truely spectacular. Arr i could go on and on about Mexico, it is really good, the people are really friendly and one day for sure I will hopefully go back again. One thing to remember is there is a leaving tax (which i'm sure we didn't pay back then, but you seem to have to pay for now) but its worth noting
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
