Virgin HD v. Sky HD

I have a Virgin plus HD box and a samsung full HD tv.
The problem is, I can't really notice any difference between HD and non-HD programmes e.g. BBC.
I've just watched "How to Train Your Dragon" from a PC input and the quality is stunning; but I never seem to be able to get the same from Virgin.
My question is; Would Sky give me a better picture than Virgin? i.e. is there any difference in HD quality?
I must say that, when I watch Sky HD at my son's place the difference in HD quality is enormous.
Any ideas, please?

You are watching via HDMI cable?
VM quality seems to vary in different areas, in my area VM picture quality on HD and SD is dire.
Sky is the same any where.0 -
But BBC should be better on VM than on Sky because they are using a higher bit rate ..................17mbs against 9.7mbs.
Are you looking at the HD channel and not the SD one ?0 -
Is it set at 1080i? Make sure your on hdmi not scart0

As above, connect using HDMI and make sure the V+ box knows it is connected to an HD TV.
If you can't see the difference once it is set up correctly, you either have an incredibly s**te TV or you are blind.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
