im getting married myself this year and have found that the only way to get something of value is to shop around although it takes longer it is much better
my bit of advise for you is to go to printers with a design of a invite you like and ask them for a quote as you will find you will get them cheeper got mine done and saved a bomb0 -
have you tried https://www.confitti.co.uk
they have loads of good stuff and offers
hope this helps
;DThat mrs macchicken to you!0 -

Hope this helpsLooking to raise some money0 -
Watcha,
I only scored one "freebie" for my wedding and that was glass hire from safeways. I does kind of depend on what you're doing for your wedding though as if you're having your reception at a hotel they'd provide a lot you can make savings on..... Whats been decided so far?
I'd strongly recommend that you take the time to go through the big wedding tips post

as it is a mine of information! A little long I know but worth it.
I would disagree with Macchicken though as I think you can find the majority of things on Confetti.co.uk elsewhere substantially cheaper. That said its good for idea's and the sale are has soom good value.

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the weddings board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi it depends on what sort of theme you want.I started with a mood board and then set a theme.
The mood board s in a scrap book. I cut out colours, pictures etc from magazines and that was my inspiration.
I have got friends and family involved and asked for help to keep my wedding costs down.my total budget is 1000 pounds.
i have ordered my save the date cards - as fridge magnets 17 pounds for 100
good luck and enjoy.0 -
when we got married i got some free perfume minatures, free chocolate bars and free mini bottles of whisky these i used as favours, i did write to about 25 companies though and many didnt even reply. I wont post company names as feel that is a little unfair.
I also got loads of sample invites in both mine and husbands name and we then made inserts and brought envelopes it meant everyone got a different invite but it saved loads of money and no-one even noticed.
we saved loads by buying from hitched and confetti for sale forums and also a few bits from ebay but found the wedding site forums better.
my wedding dress came from a local independant shop and she let me have the actual dress there only tried on once before me for 60% discount if i brought it and took it away that week.
husband and main men hired suits and got a deal of hire 4 and get grooms one free - we had 2 best men which we paid for and our 2 dads paid to hire their own.
flowers we had minimal and got loads of quotes and the cheapest was in the most expensive lavish shopping area. had a bouquet for me and matron of honour and button holes for main wedding party. bridesmaid had me to you bear to carry.
tables had candles instead of flowers, hotel provided flowers for top table and we had silk rose petals on tables (brought off for sale forum on confetti)
my jewlerry came from ebay from china was white gold and cost £20!!! my shoes were bridesmaid shoes from bhs in sale i am so tall didnt want huge heels.
our cake was from www.fancilfulcakes.co.uk and was lovely.
we married at holiday inn and was stunning
any questions do ask0 -

And just out of interest as I am not planning on getting married I'm thinking more for 18th's, the jewellry you bought from China, do you have a link and how much did you have to pay for customs?Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. hello savvy yes they are the cake people i used great cakes and seemed reasonably priced. we got married 2 yrs ago.
I will have a look on my ebay history but really cant remember company and did pay some sort of customs thing i think as they had this label stuck on with info - my memories so pants esp when i was doing a post grad degree at same time as organising wedding!!! jewlerry was fab quality and as i was unlikely to wear it again didnt want to spend £100's.0
